UY Book 21: The Mother of Mountains is solicited in the new Diamond Previews catalogue. I never mentioned that the introduction will be written by John Landis, director of such movies as National Lampoon's Animal House, Blues Brothers, An American Werewolf in London, Trading Places, Coming to America, and even The Stupids.
I had gotten to know John from our annual meetings at the San Diego Con. We are great admirers of each others' works. I'm very happy that he consented to write the intro.

I absolutely love AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, if only because it contains the single best transformation sequence ever committed to film. Plus, it's scary as all heck.
The list of individuals submitting introductions to UY volumes is certainly getting diverse. I wonder why John Landis is doing the introduction? Is he a UY reader? Or will Usagi get bitten by a werewolf in the near future?

Well, has there ever been anybody to refuse to write an intro to UY? People as far off a Alexandro Jodorowsky did it; and if someone as charming as Sensei asks, how could anybody resist??
@ MikeM: Good luck with the hunt.... You'll need it, I guess; I was lucky three times to get "Shades of Death", "Grasscutter II" & "Space Usagi" for ridiculously few cash; But the rest I've seen were so outragously expensive....

There have been a few that did refuse. Not because they did not like Usagi, though. On the contrary, they do. There were two main reasons, both very valid. 1-They have a policy not to do introductions (and I have never seen one by this person), and 2-they just do not have the time.Thomas Froehling wrote:Well, has there ever been anybody to refuse to write an intro to UY? I can understand both reasons, especially #2. I've written a few intros, and it does take a lot of time and energy. That is why I was so impressed with Jodorowsky's. He gave it to me hand written, without any mistakes--no cross outs or anything. He apologized because he had just written it before we had dinner that night.

Blues Brothers and Usagi Yojimbo.... My head is spinning and I love it!
I honestly never would've put you two together. It should be prove to be a very interesting read.
I allready have my order filled out and ready to hand to my comic shop. =D I can't wait to have volume 21. The Mother of Mountains was the storyline I read when I bought my first issue of Usagi.
