I'm still wondering where Keiko will fit into all of this...

I've posted a preview panel from UY 102 at the Coming Up section.

http://usagiyojimbo.com/comingup.html#uy102

Check it out... how is Usagi going to battle Shizukiri without his swords?!?!?!?

Well, Shizukiri is not meant to be likable, I think....
You could feel pity for him (I sure did when he was shown in # 95; frustrated and willing to break out of the life he had; but his karma led him back to what he used to be).

The poisonous needle... well, Usagi has been moved away from the spot the fight took place; I doubt that that will help Usagi.
I think it's more likely that Mariko will try to help Usagi, bound or not; she has a strong spirit (strong enough to stare down Usagi at least  ), but does she have the skill??
Mariko, I fear for your life, don't do something hasty or stupid!! :?

I know you actually meant Mayumi, right?

Personally, I think Usagi is one of those rare samurai who isn't afraid to do something unorthadox such as throwing his sword like a javalin. Now that I think about it, he actually did do the last issue. Question is, will Shizukiri be open to or expecting such a tactic on Usagi's part.....

@ Steve: You're right; I'm (hard) at work now, so I couldn't look up her name and had to rely on my feeble memory...

Well, throwing one's sword is a very desperate move and should only be applied when no other measures could help; I think Usagi threw his Wakisashi, 'cause he later fought hand-to-hand.

And, yes, Usagi has shown that he can handle other makeshift weapons just as well if necessary: remember his fight with fish and octopus? Or how he stabbed Jei with his own spear blade??

It's more a question of how Usagi (alone) could stand up against Shizukiri, when he hardly can stand on his feet?

I mean, Shizukiri has a reputation of being a skilled and ruthless assassin; Gen rather parted with money than to confront him together with Usagi !!

actually I am pretty sure I've spotted his weapon - but I'm not going to say anything so as not to spoil the surprize. Stan has definitely and deliberately placed a weapon for Usagi to use. I have a feeling Usagi will throw down his swords putting Shizukiri at ease and then make short work of him - even in his weakened state.

I agree that Usagi is perfectly capable of un orthodox moves and we have seen him throw his wakizashi more than once - in issue 101 in fact! Heh heh I loved the fish fight! Man I'm SO looking forward to 102!

Morna-san...you've prompted me to look into it, and I have found the weapon(s) too. I think I need to label this discussion as having spoilers now!
You're right in that Usagi has used everything from his sheathed sword to a fish for a weapon -- and prevailed. It will be interesting to see him use <highlight to see potential spoiler> ninja weaponry!

I believe I know which one you are refering to, as well.

It is a sign of Stan's artist and compositional genius where he can blatently show it at one point, then keep it just out of sight so that the reader forgets that it is even there.

No apologies necessary. Part of the fun on the DojoBoard is to speculate on upcoming stories. It's hard waiting a month or two to find out what happens in the next issue. Hey as long as the discussions are properly labeled as having potential spoilers, we're good.

I hope I'm not being too obvious. I may have to discontinue having Todd post advance pages.

Actually, I'm glad that my stories can lead to a logical conclusion. However, there are always one or two other elements in the story.

But, please, please, please, if it's not too late already:

Let Mayumi live!!

I think she deserves at least a little happines after all the ordeal she's been through; and she sure as hell has learn her lesson; she will know now why Usagi tried to leave her.

(Am I really pleading for a comic character's life? How infantile can one get?? )
