Yes, I'll celebrate my 40th anniversary on 24th of September.

I'll have a relaxed afternoon in our garden, waiting for friends to flock by, having coffee or tea with the cake, maybe some barbeque in the evening...

And, no, we won't have roasted rabbit

Happy birthday, Thomas!

It came as quite a surprise to me the last time I was in Belgium to learn that barbecuing is popular in Europe. One of my guides was part of a barbecue club, and had won a few awards at competitions. I thought this was just an American "sport".

Indeed the barbeque season here in the UK isn't complete without it starting to rain in the middle of the procedure, just as the meat is starting to get ready heh...

Well, you should have a little walk in Görlitzer Park in Berlin on a sunny Sunday afternoon, to see just how popular barbequing is: you wouldn't be able to throw a brick without disturbing at least two barbequing partys
(not that throwing bricks is too popular a sport in Berlin, but... anyway, you get the picture

But it is not seen as a sport here (as far as I know), just a leasurable way to eat unhealthy food after turning it into charcoal on charcoal...

Anyway, my birthday went very well, with some very nice presents: my wife even bought me two comics (Whow; she's not into comics, but nevertheless she entered a comic shop!), Bone #4 and #5 (Scholastic series).

And, surprisingly, my own daughter produced her very first comic especially for this occasion: It's called "Mara's strawberries", lettering by my wife!
Here it comes:

Ok, her story telling might be a little simple (yet), but I find it remarkable enough to add it to my comic collecting right away!

Wonderful drawings. There is something about a child's drawing that grown ups cannot duplicate.

I especially like the family portrait.
