Favorite Music?

I can't get enough classic rock. Thin Lizzy, Led Zep, Queen, GnR, the Who, etc. That generation was great for music. As for metal, I admire the musical skill/precision required to pull off those amazing riffs and solos. I do have to be in the mood for it though.

Miles, Coltrane, Monk...Be-bopers mostly, but any jazz will do.

Nice. My dad is really into jazz, funk, and all that great stuff. Any recommendations on songs that I could get into from them (I'm a novice when it comes to Jazz)?

Buy "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis. It is considered the finest jazz album ever made and I agree. Just stellar. It's what I like to call a "Deserted Island" album. Meaning if your trapped on a island and you have only one album to listen to Kind of Blue is perfect, you will never get tired of it.

Bjork is a goddess!!!!

"Debut" I can listen to in a 24 hour loop!!!

"Post" is also great too for people starting to listen to her. Anything she does is good. Even all the remix tracks from the import albums.

I highly recommend the Bjork: Volumen DVD collection with all her videos too.

For those who think that Bjork is kind of tame on her solo albums, I recommend strongly searching for the (regrettably only two) "Sugarcubes" albumes...

Great stuff, already showing her potential to be a superstar

Like TMBG above she's very unique. Especially enjoyed the song (cannot remember the name) she sang in a clubs toilet where you can actually here the acoustics change part way through when someone else opened the door and came in!

For my own choices I like a few Scottish bands (biased) Belle & Sebastian, Teenage Fanclub & Biffy Clyro.

Other favourites include Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, Radiohead, Sergio Mendes (preferably with Brasil 66), Nirvana, The Pixies, Beth Orton, Queens of the Stone Age, Herb Alpert and numerous others who I will not mention.

This will likely start the war of Jazz fans, as it usually does, but I think the greatest jazz recording of all time is Blue Train by John Coltrane. As much as I love Miles, I think Lee Morgan was far more talented and could smoke Miles any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Forever Beatles. I also like Janet Jackson's older stuff from the 80's, and I'm totallly in love with Elton John's songs. I know this sounds a little dorky, but I absoulety love Love LOVE Broadway show albums like Wicked, Hairspary, Cats, and all that good stuff.

I like Flogging Molly a lot. They are like celtic punk. I want to see them live someday.
TMBG always entertains me AND my kids.
Queen harmonies are great. Opera rock at its best.
