I'm taking a class as part of my Phd program. The class is called The Teacher as Reflective Practitioner. I was supposed to write a sixteen page paper as a final project. I thought, instead of another paper no one will read, why not make a sixteen page comic illustrating what I learned in the class. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, and I got a 100% as grade. I may post more of it here later, but the whole things on my blog if you want to see it.

I turned in a 1 page comic for an English class at the Univ of Hawaii. It was during the time that National Lampoon was big on college campuses, and I used a Jeff Jones-style ink wash. I got an "A" as well.
Thanks Stan. That paper sounds interesting. I am finding that the profs are more open to this kind of thing than I would have predicted. I think they realize we're not really getting out of any work. It would have been easier and faster to just write the paper!
Here's the first few pages of Curriculum Comics #2. I'm doing this as the final project for a class I'm taking called Learning Styles & Teaching Styles.
Marchino, a lot of us artists are tactile or kinesthetic. Teachers used to scold me for doodling and drawing during class, but they came to realize it actually helped me to focus. As I got older I would try to make drawings to illustrate the points they were making.
