For those with a stereotype view as a land of ice and snow, I offer this:
The past two days, I've been living in the coldest inhabited place in North America. Colder than places substantially closer to the Pole.
Below -45C. I don't know the conversion on that in fahrenheit-- something like -60, I think. In any event-- BRRRRR!

I remember skiing in the Alps 4 years ago at -20ºC (-4ºF). It was snowing and the wind was about 80-100 km/h fast (50-60 mph). The funny thing is that I didn't feel anything, mostly because I was completely frozen . But -45ºC - now that's cold. How do you manage to not get your ideas frozen?

Actually, when they're hanging there in mid-air, spiky with frost amongst the ice-flakes and droplets of condensing carbon dioxide, they're a lot easier to examine.

Oh well, that's simple. Imagine the hottest summer afternoon you had in California. Done? Ok, now living in the North is a total opposite of that. I feel happy, that I could help.
Visited there in early November once-- it was funny watching everyone shuffling around in their plump vests, staring at the weirdos paddling in the "frigid" ocean.
Well, it's not like we get a lot of chances to play in the sea...

We could use some of that around here too... It has been a few weeks since it last snowed and the Pyrenees are running out of snow . Blame the sun for that...
