War of the Worlds/Usagi question
Stan,
it's been a while since I have posted here and not too sure if any new news was posted regarding this, but, has there been any mention as to when the War of the Worlds story line with Usagi will appear?

The War of the World's story is something we can look forward to reading. It sounds like an interesting idea.
Will Usagi's 25th anniversary be something that is celebrated only at Comic Con or will it be a year long celebration? Are there many plans for it? And will any out of print trades (Barnes and Noble listed a few as out of print) be put back in print?

A friend of mine in Vancouver is printing them. I don't know the size or quantity yet. He is the same person who offered Usagi: Blue, Usagi: Orange, and the Polish print in the US.Steve Hubbell wrote:Hey, this is the first time you have mentioned this!Stan Sakai wrote:There will be a new print, Sashimono Battle out for Emerald City Convention.![]()
Can you give any more details, like who is producing or publishing it, size, how many are being s/n, etc?
This time, the image is a watercolor drawing of Usagi fighting three guys.

Paul Lau? Cool, I liked the previous s/n prints he produced. Great work.Stan Sakai wrote:A friend of mine in Vancouver is printing them. I don't know the size or quantity yet. Was this new one listed in the Diamond catalog like the previous ones were? It has been quite a while since I've even looked in an issue of Previews, let alone checked the "prints and posters" section, so I would definitely have missed it if it had been listed.
Funny how everybody has their own "names" to describe the various prints. I understand the descriptive connection for the "Blue" print and "Orange" print (the ones I call "Portrait" and The Duel"), but what is the story behind the "Polish" print? (I have been calling it "Images" because of the inclusion of images of Tomoe, Gen, and Katsuichi Sensei in the background behind Usagi)

It has not been listed in Diamond Previews. I don't know if it will be. I leave things like that up to Paul. The others were advertised through Previews, so this one very well might be. I will have it at other conventions I go to this year, though.Steve Hubbell wrote:

The Polish print, or Images, was originally made for the UY calendar (I don't remember for what year). I was doing one new image for each year, and this was the one for that particular year. An image for another year was Snowbunny, which was used as the DH Christmas card the following year as well as stickers which were applied to a DH coffee promotion. Anyway, when my Polish publishers (there were two at the time) wanted to print up large posters to publicize my signing tour of that country in 2004, I suggested that particular piece of art because it had not really been seen much. They made huge posters, I think the largest UY prints to date.

What a year, and I'm anxiously awaiting the hunt for each of these 25th Anniversary items...if I don't have them pre-ordered already!
On a side note, looking at Stan's avatar, I was curious as to whether or not the Sensei caricature has ever made it into the background of a Usagi story? If not, any plans to one day sneak it in there? Might be a treat for us to stumble upon one day...

It's not quite the same as Stan's avatar, but a little self-caricature does appear on the last page of "The Tea Cup" (in Book 3).Texcap wrote: On a side note, looking at Stan's avatar, I was curious as to whether or not the Sensei caricature has ever made it into the background of a Usagi story? It will be listed in Previews. There will be a signed and an unsigned edition.Steve Hubbell wrote:
