I agree with some of the posts about "no". Not because I don't love it, that statue is awesome work!!
But even if you did charge a reasonable price, my big problem is space. I don't have the room for all the lovely statues I would love to have, in my one bedroom apartment.
But hearing you might do 3" size figures? If you sculpt them as lovingly well as the larger size, I would certainly want a collection of those!!

i would definitly prefer to have a complete set of small characters !roel wrote: Oh Steve, by the way I'm actully doing a 3 inch line of all the Usagi figures. I thought it would be cool to have them as pvc figures to place on your desk as well as for christmas ornaments. I'll post pics once those are done.

I would so be on that statue. I love all the preliminary ideas you have posted so far for other characters as well. Though i too agree that if it hit 100 or more in cost I would then have some problems due to finances.
One idea I had though was why not produce a set amount already built and then issue a cheaper release as a resin kit for others to assemble or customize. I know Resin kits are pretty popular still in parts of the anime community and also over seas.
Though another idea is to cast it out of a cheaper plastic like they do with many of the recent statue releases you find in the anime community. They just released for the One Piece/Dragon Ball cross over a set of Luffy and Goku Statues where they are dressed in the others costume. They seem to be made form a cheaper PVC or Plastic, but still are highly detailed. The cost as I have seen primary comes from popularity of the characters and not form needing to make back the amount spent to make the product. Just some ideas
Personally I would want to get a already assembled one because I am lazy and know that a kit version would only sit in my closet with others gathering dust for that one day I may try to build it. LOL

i love this statue!! it is the reason i joined the forum. i hope it's a good size, and made of resin, or some other solid material, not vinyl. i think it's awesome. there are a shortage of higher end usagi yojimbo collectibles out there. i have the first darkhorse statue, and this is easily 10 times better. i sincerely hope this statue comes out soon and stays a solid 10 inches. it's beautiful, and it would be a shame to shrink it down.

The thing I love about these statues is that they have been crafted by a fan with real reverence for the characters. I passed on the last Usagi collectable (the PVC statue) because it just didn't "feel" like Usagi to me. It felt like a piece that was attempting to appeal to a perceived market.
I would pay $100 for each and every one of these statues that is released. In adddition to which I will have to contend with shipping, living in Australia. So these will probably work out to be $150 for me. But I am still prepared to pay it. (That said, if it were possible to opt for cheaper, surface shipping I would be most grateful.)
I think it would be reasonable to suggest that these would sell at least as well as the Usagi and Katsuichi statues that have been released previously. These more acurately capture the characters, so I would hope that they would easily outsell the previous statues. A friend of mine is very interested in these statues, but baulked at the previously released ones, because they didn't capture Stan's style. Character yes, style no. That is the strength of these pieces, and the reason for my commitment to supporting the line.
All that said, I wanted to ask why Usagi is grey. In all this merchandise he's grey, while clearly on the cover illustrations he's white. What's with that?

Even if the breath between us smells of alcohol,
Call it confusion in the best way possible.
