Satomi Hakkenden on dvd?

Post by go »

Dear Readers,
If memory serves me correctly Sensei Sakai once posted that Satomi Hakkenden was one of his favorite movies.
Is this the same one?

No, it looks like this is an earlier adaptation of the novel Nansō Satomi Hakkenden.

This is the movie that's Stan's favorite:

I haven't seen either of these, but I have seen Kinji Fukasaku's 1983 version (Well, to be a little more precise, it's based on a 1980s novel that's sort of a "remake" of Nansō Satomi Hakkenden). Not a great movie, put it's pretty entertaining in its own rather cheesy way.

I have the anime adaptation of this book. It is not bad, but they use two distinctly different character designers which grows annoying because the primary artist, who also did the opening animation, is really good and the second one I do not like the style of as much.

This is the opening of the anime. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vyrjy6MEbuU

What's the title of the anime version?
