AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
Thanx for the SHOUT dude! OOOHHHH...my aching eardrums! I've been away from Usagi for quite a while. I've been busy with a comic-strip idea. But, the other night I decided to watch one of my samurai flix and afterwards I went through my favorite Usagi issues. Plus, I'm thinking of doing somemore "fan art "to send to Sakai-sensei and doing some stories with a "funny-animal" Ronin of my own. He's a "lovable rogue" -ala- Toshiro Mifune's Sanjuro/Yojimbo character. I also have an idea for a "Catnippon" story that I may send to Sakai-sensei and Argones-sensei for their perusal.{Right now it's just for my own amusement.}But, we'll see if it pans out. Well, I'll sign off for now...Abayo!!!

Hey there
Dusty Rhoades here. Great to see a new update to the web page.
Todd Shogun knows me from way back, others may know of me from Art in the letters section or my Motorcycle jacket with the three spot patch on the back.
I started reading Usagi Yojimbo back when it was a side feature in Albedo anthropomorphics. I've collected everything there is to collet except for certain things given out at San Diego comic con and the 2nd resin cast statue. I'm sure Stan thinks I'm a pain in the A** by now. *Laugh*
My love of this comic pushed me to do my own art and cuminated in comic work in Antarctic press's Genus, Furlough, and Hit the Beach series during the mid 90's before I left to attend Motorcycle Mechanics institute to begin my carrer in the Motorcycle industry. I'm risen from a line mechanic at a Harley dealership, to a Product Specialist position making parts for one of the bigest aftermarket parts catalogs in the world. If you have seen American Chopper or Monster Garage, then you have seen guys I work with and the kinds of parts I make.
I dont know if my Usagi drawing is still on this site, Toddsama grasiously put it up many years ago.
I hope to be around more often now that my carrer has stablzed and I can devote more time to my first love, comics.
Dusty

Mike Kurtzman, right here. I took a 2 year hiatus from UY, but I'm back! I just happened the other day to pick up and read issue 1, vol. 1 and I got so back into it that I read the rest of Samurai! pts. 1-8 and also read Daisho again. I then realized I haven't read any new issues since no. 51, vol. 3! I have since that day ordered every issue I've missed and am once again up-to-date! Todd should know me from old Mid-Ohio-Con coverage from '98 and '00. I like the new site design, looks good. Mr. Sakai, please come back to MoC! I'm in need of a 3rd piece of original art! lol Here's to hoping.

Good idea
I think the first post on this page was a good idea. I am feverishly working to catching up with reading the six pages of posts!! I am new here, so I will post my info.
Definitely not the 29 club, more like 39! I am an elementary art teacher by trade. I do a little artwork of my own on the side. I am married to a terrific lady, Kristan. We have 4 kids, ages 15, 12, 10 and 10.
Like many others here, I am a big Beatles fan. I like a lot of "oldies". I also like Contemporary Christian music. My faith is very important to me as well.
I discovered Usagi in the comic book store about six years back. There is nothing like it. I like Usagi and also read the Fantastic Four. I am a big fan of the old Kirby style of comic drawing.
I enjoy the LOTR series, of course. I just read the first book in the series "Master and Commander" by Patrick O'Brien. Couldn't put it down!
My artwork website is www.geocities.com/andrewwales2001
Nice to meet all of you!

My favorite Beatles album is "Abbey Road". Did you happen to see the "Concert for George" on PBS last week. Eric Clapton was musical director and all of George's old friends played only George's songs. Ringo and Paul were there, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynde of ELO. It was awesome!
Thanks for checking out my website and your kind words. I would like to see some of your samurai animals.
When I first thought I would like to get published I sent out 34 envelopes of samples and got 34 rejection letters. On my 35th I received an offer for employment. I don't get paid much. It has been as low as $35 for 4 pages of comics!! Obviously, I'm not in it for the money. Just the enjoyment of having a comic strip.

Usagi fan
Hey, thought I might join the discussion.
I am 24 years old.
I work in Environmental Education as an Outdoor Instructor.
When I first picked up a Usagi Yojimbo? It had to have been 3rd or 4th grade. I am an artist as a hobby and it all stems from copying Usagi Yojimbo panels in art class. At one time I wanted to tbe an art teacher, but found that it was too hard being indoors all the time. The same comic store in my hometown of Bloomington Indiana has been holding them for me ever since.
I would like to see Hayao Miyazaki direct a Usagi Movie using the Dragonbellow Conspiracy storyline. Possibly with some Kappa and Jei thrown in to boot. My favorite stories though tend to involve Zato Ino. Maybe Miyazaki could consider after Howl's Moving Castle. You know he will never retire, hopefully.
I have every single issue and a few collectible items save for the Usagi Pin and Albedo #2. Oddly, I have never written in to Stan Sakai or the Dojo to say thank you. Never even been to a comic convention.
Hmmm. So Thank you Mr. Sakai for all of your work and imagination. You have made an artist out of me, who eagerly drives home to Indiana every holiday to pick up my stack of Usagi Yojimbos from the Vintage Phoenix. Thank you.

I will join in, too.
I am a 27 year old MD/PhD student. I am half way through both the MD and PhD degrees, working on the PhD now. My PhD work involves understanding how cancer cells respond to treatment with chemotherapy.
I first started collecting Usagi Yojimbo in high school, with my first issue being somewhere around #5 of the Mirage series. I gave it up after a few years, as I completely stopped buying comic books. I returned a few years ago and have completed my collection, sans a few of the brief appearances. I do have two copies of Albedo 2, one of which I have over in the for sale section (shameless plug).
My other interests include: finishing my collection of Daredevil (volumes 1 and 2). I am only missing issues 1-3 of volume 1.
I also enjoy all of Akira Kurosawa's movies, classical music, and basketball. As my member name implies, I am a Grinnell college fan (although I did not go there), specifically of their basketball program. If anyone is fan of basketball, check them out.
