Official: It’s A Glitch – And It’s Being Fixed

Sorry folks.

I have it on good authority from Diamond Book Distributors that the current state of Amazon.com – where most of the books in the Top 100 are now comics books, oversized graphic novels priced at $8.34 and $14.99 no matter what the original price (sometimes up to $125) – is a glitch.

And it’s being fixed.

In all likelihood if your order is being processed, then you’re getting those books at that price and someone will probably have to eat the difference. If not, expect to get a firm but polite email from Amazon explaining that you won’t be getting these books at the price you ordered them at – though you are welcome to purchase them at the usual discount rate.

Being able to pick up the complete Bone for $14.99 would have been pretty cool. Of course, Amazon's regular price for it is still pretty good.

I didn't even realize I ordered 2 x Invincible. That's what happens when you order on the small screen of an iPhone using tweetie browser. Maybe because I ordered using a gift card (instant payment) Amazon is deciding to honor it.

That was a fun glitch that weekend. I ordered 2 hardcovers, got one canceled but one they did ship to me at the glitch price. And they added a bonus $25 to my account for the first cancellation. Had I known about this discount, I would have ordered more books under more screen names.
