UY 128 is finally finished!
Editor Diana will get the FedEx box with UY 128 and the cover for 131 tomorrow.
I will be working on charity and pin-up drawings for the next week:
A color Usagi drawing for an American Tinnitus Association charity auction. http://www.ata.org/
A color drawing for the Calgary Comic Expo hardcover artbook and charity auction
http://www.calgaryexpo.com/
A b/w non-usagi pin-up for the Gordon Rider comic book
http://web.me.com/jonjmurakami/GordonRi ... _Page.html
A b/w sheriff Usagi pin-up for Reed Gunther comic book (it's a western)
http://reedgunther.com/
A color drawing of Lady Murasaki (author of Tale of Genji) for website.
http://heyoscarwilde.com/
And a pin-up for San Francisco's Comix Experience book store's 21st anniversary mini-comic and CBLDF auction
http://www.cbldf.org/
The b/w pieces will probably also be printed in the 2010 UY Sketchbook, as will the b/w versions of the color pieces.
Hopefully, I'll be able to start on UY 129 next week, as I'll be a good 2 weeks behind deadline again. Once this is finished, I'll do the color tip-in and endpapers for Book 24.

I remember actually considering commissioning a drawing of Usagi where he would look like Clint Eastwood in Sergio Leone's "Dollars Trilogy." I wonder if this will be sort of like what I had in mind (it probably won't have the Mexican poncho Eastwood wears in those films).Stan Sakai wrote:

I keep meaning to read THE TALE OF GENJI, but I always chicken out before I even reach the end of the second chapter.

Looks fantastic! A nice companion for the piece published in Beasts.

Hello UYDers,
I just picked up my copy of 128 and it was such a great issue. SPOILERS

Things I loved about this issue:
Love the cover.
Great opening story that connects us to the boy and his family right off.
The Dream sequence when the demon chomps on the father's head and the mother says, "oh, my" is scary and sad.
Cinematic action frames of Usagi fighting.
Usagi fear and surprize when is grabbed and pulled into the demon mouth. Love the demon's hand and composition of that panel.
We get to see Usagi's death skull.
And the last frame is scary with Jei. Angela said, "I hope they don't die." Me too. I got attached to that family.
Glad to see Sakura will be coming back soon. Angela said, "That's marvelous, simply marvelous." Heh. Made me think of Billy Crystal On SNL.
And the find the Ginkgo leaves back cover is cool. I love these.
Thanks for a wonderful issue. I enjoyed it a lot!
Peace, maka[/list]

I can only agree with maka, loved this issue in particular!...my comic book dealer only sent me one issue though I had ordered two of the series each month in advance (one for my sister..)never guessing that this would be such a great issue to begin with...I was also very impressed with usagi's fighting poses in the rain, especially with his blade soaking and dripping from the heavy rain, I think that is beautiful to look at....
the demon killing nearly all of them so abruptly was very exciting....
since I hooked into buying usagi monthly(reading the book 'live' so to imagine...) this is the first time for me to come accross jei in an issue so that's another reason why it was so ggreat to me....
enough of that ,now ...
