If you haven't heard of Ultraman, this video might be a good introduction. Think of it as a cross between Godzilla and professional wrestling.

Or another way of putting it: rather than summoning a giant super robot (a la Super Sentai/Power Rangers, Ultraman fights the giant monsters with his bare hands.
Hmm... how to best express myself in signature form?

Well, I'm back. I need to get back into the series, been so long since I read volume 7.

I'm an Ultraman fan. At some point last year, I watched the whole original series for the first time. If you watch several episodes in a row, they start to feel a little repetitive, but it's still a fun series with great wacky monsters.

I've never read it, but I imagine that this is a book that Ultraman fans would probably enjoy:

Also, I would highly recommend the Ultraman-influenced Hong Kong movie The Super Inframan:

your opponent is always yourself."

I bought the cheapy complete series set late last year (budget company Mill Creek inherited the rights from BCI who released the series a few years earlier and have recently gone out of business - hence the $12 complete series set). I've been watching episodes here and there for the last few months. I think I've got 8 to go.

Love the Dada and Bulton aliens.
