The second promo trailer is now up on YouTube:

As noted on several anime boards, it now looks like they're taking elements from the 2nd Yamato anime movie & TV series involving the Comet Empire, and adding it to the Iscandar voyage.

It's funny, I was telling a guy at the office about Space Battleship Yamato, after I finally saw it for the first time earlier this year. He looked a little queasy, lol.

The very next day, I learned of the live action coming out. I don't think he will be interested in seeing it, but I am sure going to go.

The original link I posted appears to have gone dead.

Here's the official English-language version of the website, with a sub-titled version of the trailer:

Anyone in the U.S. watch the Macey's Paraid? The NYPD marching band was playing the theme song to Space Battleship Yamamoto, they even anouced that was the song they were playing on the commantary on NBC.

That's pretty neat even if Al Roker mangled the pronunciation of "Yamato" a little bit. :wink:

On a similar note, here's a video of a Japanese Coast Guard band playing the theme song from Neon Genesis Evangelion:

"It doesn't matter whom you are paired against;
your opponent is always yourself."

Yamato movie lead actor, Kimura Takuya, is a member of the band SMAP, and their FujiTV show has been showing footage from the movie that opened yesterday (Japan time).

[Spoilers, obviously]

The first two minutes of the movie:

The launch sequence:

Nice to hear the original theme music used again to good effect.

I wanted to get this to have on hand before my friend from Japan comes back in town... there is no word anywhere on the 'net for a region 1 (U.S., etc.) release. Looks singularly awesome.
:x Have you folks heard anything?
