SHOGUN DVD

Post by Todd Shogun »

Okay, I finally finished the entire Shogun DVD set.... simply amazing!!! The "making of" featurette was also very eye-opening and you can truly appreciate the film even moreso after watching it. Incredible what these people went through to film this epic. I definitely recommend it!!!

But on to one item that I addressed previously. I think the DVD is cut! There was a scene in the beginning where Hans Peterson (sp?) gets boiled alive by Lord Yabu amd Omi (this was not the kid being boiled in front of Blackthorne either). In the DVD all they show is Hans being carried to the pot, and then they cut it short! Wasn't there a scene afterwards that had him moaning in the background at night while he was still being boiled? I am still seacrhing for my old Shogun tapes. Does anyone remember this? Maybe my DVD is messed up?

I believe you are right. I seem to remembe that scene.

Or it might be because it was in the book. Yabu was getting a rush listening to the moans in the night.

Man, it's been a while since I've last seen it.

Is it a new reissued one?

I just reviewed my old tapes and then went back to see the DVD... and the scene was there, in the DVD! Apparently it was not cut...my DVD must have skipped the first time around or something. Peculiar that it skipped just that scene... at any rate, now I can sleep well again...
