Next sketch ....
For those active board members that don't get a chance to meet
Stan, please reply to this thread:
Since I see Stan so often, I thought I would get a sketch for the first
person who replies to this thread. No cost, although it could be awhile,
since Stan doesn't have any appearances until approx. next San Diego.
I'll e-mail the person when the sketch is obtained. Hopefully this makes
sense.
John H.
Colin & Craig hopefully I'll be able to get to the post office by the end of
this week.

Hey
I am from Ontario Canada, unless Stan isplanning on getting up here to the Great White North any time soon, I doubt I will ever get tomeet him in Person. I would love a sketch from Stan.
Is there a catch to this???

I just accepted an invitation for Anime North 2003 which is being held in Toronto in May. So I will be in Canada soon.fortunec00kie wrote:Hey

Thats great to hear. I will definitely make plans to be there.

Thanks Stan,

Anime North will take place at the Regal Constellation Hotel in Toronto, May 16-18, 2003 (Victoria Day weekend). A nice thing is that they also invited Sharon. Anime North has a very nice website. Check it out.fortunec00kie wrote: Can you let me know a more specific date and where it will be held when you get the info.

Books etc...
Stan,
I ahve never been to a con before so I don't know what to expect really.
When you go do you bring copies of your books etc to sell there? It is hard to come by some of the Trade Paper Backs here in Canada, I was wondering if you would be bringing anything to sell?

P.S. thanks for the info, I looked up the website of Anime North and got the address and everything, thanks again.

Re: Books etc...
I usually don't bring much to foreign conventions because of customs and the hassles of carrying things around. I don't think I will even have a table at Anime North, though I will have a couple of signings and a presentation or two. However, a few weeks before a con I put up a post asking, "What should I bring?" That's when Dojo members can request things like specific pieces of art, books, comics, free cards, etc.fortunec00kie wrote:Stan,

As far as advice on cons: wear good walking shoes, get enough to eat and drink, carry a back-pack or bag, bring a camera, if you want drawings from artists make sure you either bring paper or buy a sketchbook such as one of those hardcover drawing books (bear in mind that many pros charge for drawings), consult the program guide to see if there are panels or films you want to see, and bring more money than you think you will need. Many dealers (such as myself) are not set up for credit card transactions and will not take out-of-country checks and there is always a long line for the ATMs.
Can anyone else add to this list?
Con suggestions
I remembered reading a list a long time ago on Mark Evaniers site. Basically what Stan said with a few extra suggestions

Re: Con suggestions
I was just over at Mark's looking for this very thing. Mark's site is one of my daily stops on the internet. He has new stuff on there everyday. It's no wonder that we haven't done an issue of Groo for so long.Gaffey wrote:I remembered reading a list a long time ago on Mark Evaniers site.
