I almost missed this, but I am nominated as Best Letterer for the Shel Dorf Award, given out at the Detroit Fanfare. There is some strong competition, including my buddy Tom Orzechowski, who is my letterer of choice for the 47 Ronin project. The only regular lettering I have done this year is for the Sunday Spider-Man newspaper strip. Tom has a bunch of credits, including the beautiful and very prestigious Milo Manara Library from Dark Horse. Guess who I'm voting for. (No, it's not me.)
Here is the ballot:

I won a Shelly last year in the Best Continuing Series category.

Got to admit that I was surprised to learn that you are not lettering the 47 Ronin project yourself. It will be interesting to see the lettering of the man you picked for the job when the first issue gets released.

Re: 2012 Shel Dorf Award nomination
I just learned from fellow nominee Jaymes Reed that I received the Shel Dorf Award for lettering tonight at the Detroit Fanfair. Thank you all that voted for me (though I voted for someone else).
This is my third lettering award this year, the other two being Stumptown and the Eisner.
