CGC stands for Certified Guaranty Company, a company that grades comic books (and other collectables) for a fee. http://www.cgccomics.com

For collectors & speculators & investors CGC is considered a trusted, 3rd party who gives fair and trustworthy grading. Key comics (like first appearances) CGC comics in high grade often sell for multiple price guide listed prices.

I only own one CGC comic, Albedo #2 in 7.0 grade. Todd, the creator of www.usagiyojimbo.com fan site, posted in these forums (the past forum before this forum was hacked) this comic on eBay with a buy it now feature of $200. I never thought I would buy a comic for that much money. And I don't think I will ever buy a comic for that kind of money again.
