Actually, it does. "The Test" was renamed "Samurai Part 3" and was incorporated into the storyline by two new pages of art that Stan did just for Book 2. "The Test" appears on pages 26-33, with the two new pages on 25 and 34. This story appeared as "The Test" only in UY Vol 1 #6. (This is a perfect example of the explanation I gave in your previous post about Stan including "out of continuity" stories in the GNs by modifying them somewhat). Just a side note, while "The Test" appears as "Samurai Part 3" in the ToC, it was inadvertantly titled "Part 2" on the first page (Page 26 in UY Book 2). This typo appeared in the first print, but may have been corrected in subsequent printings (Stan?).

samurai part ?

How did this affect the titles of the other parts of the Samurai story line? I have the comics from Fantagraphics issues #1 - 4 which contain the stories Samurai parts 1 - 8, two chapters per issue... if The Test became Samurai part 3, that would mean that the original part 3 (and subsequent parts) would become part 4, etc.??? I guess I need to buy some more trades... you said that there were a couple of original pages added to connect the story line of The Test... Actually, I had asked about stuff like this in the trades way back on the old message board after finding the Snakes and Blossoms story which had incorporated Hebi and another story which title escapes me at the moment... Are there any other modified stories or original pages in any of the other Fantagraphics trades? Only one of them which I've bought so far has been volume 4 (hoping for the Return to Achigahara story which I learned afterwards was only in the ltd. ed. hardcover).

The Test became chapter 3 in UY Book 2: Samurai. Actually, I think it's still listed as part 2--an oversight that Fantagraphics has not yet remedied. The other chapters were retitled accordingly. Chapter 3 became chapter 4, 5 became 6, and so on.

Return to Adachigahara was redone in black & white with Sergio Aragones inking the flashback sequences. It was printed in the Seasons collection from DH (Book 11, I think). Panels were rearranged and in some cases, redrawn completely.

The four color specials will be reprinted, though probably in B&W, in an upcoming trade--about Book 19 or 20. They had their own continuity and takes place in a time of Usagi's life that he has not yet reached. The reason it will be in black and white is economic. They were done such a long time ago that the color plates no longer exists, and it would not be worth the cost to recolor them. Besides, being black and white would fit in better with the rest of the trades.

Ah, very good. Perhaps now Logan Myrddin, can stop with the "PANIC, FEAR AND RAGE!", and enjoy life? 8)
