I don't have books or sources but I do have a story. When UPS was expanding internationally and in Asia, my dad was in charge of the partnership between Yamato and UPS in Japan. One time, the Yakuza complained that an package (I think it was an antique sword) was damaged in transit from Japan to a grandson in the states. The yakuza boss requested a meeting with the Yamato manager who worked with my dad. That poor man turned white. He went to the place and was there for for a whole day. He basically had to a pay a bribe to "safe face" of the yakuza boss and to not be hurt. Scary. Peace, maka

Well as a Writer I need help since I got most of my ideas from the Yakuza video games, but my main character is Japanese American who's Father was member of Japanese Mafia family which is based on the largest one in Japan.


I know for example there corruption in Japan like in Sumo,


I need to understand the Japanese Underworld,

There is no easy answer to what you seek.
There is no quick or easy answer for your questions.
This is not something that can be learned overnight.
Research, research, research.... you will have much to learn.

Japanese culture is rich, varied and ever-changing! Even foreigners that have lived in Japan for many years, continue to learn more about Japanese culture every day.

Don't just rely on the internet. It is a good place to start, but also full of mis-information.
Go to the library, or buy some books. Read them. Do more research.
Watch some movies! There are a number of Yakuza films (in Japanese of course). While maybe not 100% accurate, they are great for research and ideas.

Yes I know the internet isn't a good source for info but I just royal screwed myself at my local library so I can't take books out,


this is what I know of Japan they are Stoic by nature, they like Westerners as tourists but it whole different kettle of fish when one is living and working in Japan.

In the 80's Japan was flush with Cash and growth but in the last 20 years it has slowed down, hence why Japanese girls want to make sure that there partners have a line on well paying jobs, Westerners don't like working themselves to death or doing unpayded overtime.

What I know about Yakuza

making compares to American Mafia like the Clans in the USA they would be a Crew headed by a Capo, the Don would be the Chairman of the intire family.
