Didn't a regular version and an Usagi/Spot piece sell for $400+ on Heritage Auctions? That would make the regular version $200 or so unless the Usagi/Spot piece is rare. I'd have to look for the actual numbers, but I'm pretty sure it was $400+.

It was $478. A regular print plus an Usagi/Spot print (limited to 200).

Are congratulations in order? :) Went for less than $200.

No, didn't push to win it, there appeared to be two other interested parties, so left it. Spent my money on the original art instead heh...

Yup, too rich for my blood for that print, esp with the crazy "Buyers" Premium" or whatever they call that 19.5%(!!!) added on charge.

I bid once but stopped at a bit over $125.

Crazy buyers' charges there.

I think that I will be sticking with ebay for all of my purchases.

But congrats to whomever won it! Hopefully one of us here at the dojo.

Not really any different to any other standard auction house, it's just that HA run some of their auctions as online only, without any "in person" bidding. eBay get away with not charging more for business leverage reasons, and sheer volume of auctions they handle. Sort of how Amazon can offer such low shipping rates, it's absorbed elsewhere in the business.

Hmmm, interesting, the price it sold for. I guess the winner decided to back out. I suspect you still have to pay a percent of the winning bid price as default though.

That stinks. I was the high bidder before it went to live bidding. Shouldn't they offer it to me at the price I bid? :x

Oh well, it is what it is....

Bummer.

Was your's the last bid before that then? If so, then yeah, you'd think that would be the proper thing to do. Otherwise I'd think it should go to the last highest bidder. Frustrating. :(

I think so. I bid $150 + premium. I don't want to spend an extra $20 just because somebody backed out. That's 3 meals at Chipotle!

Yeah, I put a max bid in of $125 without premium and then walked away.

Seems like you should get it at last high bid price.

I'm still not impressed with HA.com.

They'd do better on ebay.

HA handle everything, like a normal auction house, so if you want to sell something valuable, they take care of it all. If you sell through eBay, you have to deal with answering questions, working out how much it's going to cost to ship somewhere, processing payments, worrying if someone will perform a chargeback, or change their mind and return the item, or try to scam you, and you have to accept Paypal, and... much more...

Might be okay for us. Way too complex for some people who just want to sell their old valuable art and comics and coins and medals etc. There's also the fact that it operates like a real auction, so the winner is the person who bids the highest during the auction on a repeated process. Not who puts in the highest bid by a deadline. The former type of auction tends to go for higher money.

wow, didn't realize that David was liquidating his collection. I haven't seen David at San Diego in years, so it makes sense.

I normally like to buy UY art and give money directly to Stan.
