I started collecting some of Chris' work late last year. I ordered a couple of books from his online shop back in October 2016.

Each book contained an interior drawing.

Then around December 2016, Chris was taking commissions for Star Wars characters. I jumped on the deal he had going, and ordered a few more things from his online shop - the Black Cat Jug Band, Schweizercraft Nativity Set & Companion Book, and Schweizercraft Santas.

After that I signed up on Patreon and became a supporter of Chris and have been getting more stuff on a monthly basis.
The Patreon level I signed up for entitles me to an original 4x6" watercolor drawing featuring the character or historical figure of my choice.
Here's what I've gotten so far...
For my monthly commissions I've been going back-and-forth between fantasy characters and historical or real people that have meant something to me through the years.

This month I also got the Star Wars sketchbook, and was pleased to see that many of my originals were featured in the book.

The June sketch is of one of my grandfathers - Opa Gillich - my mother's father. I never knew him, since he died long before I was born. He served in the German army in WWII, and was MIA in March of 1945 in the region of Gdansk. He was born Konrad Gillich on September 2 1904 in Rohr/Mittelfranken. He married Maria Mederer on November 13, 1927. They had 10 children, 3 boys and 7 girls.
I was a little hesitant in asking for this, and another that will be for next month. The reason being: both my grandfathers served in the German military during World War II. That sort of makes them Nazis. I have very few photos of my grandfathers, and the photos I do have are of them in military uniforms. Being that they were on the Nazi side of the war, I can understand if someone might not want to draw them. But Chris was gracious and understanding. They were a part of history, and they are part of my family heritage. I am not proud of that part of our history, but it happened and there's no changing it. Good or bad, this is my family.

Re: Maichan's OTHER art and stuff
I really enjoy Chris Schweizer's art style, and I especially liked the style and concept of his Crogan's Family Adventure series, just kind of bummed out that it stalled out after only three books and a couple short stories. I also took advantage a while back of one of his Facebook commission offers and got a fantastic portrait of Stan and Usagi done in Chris' unique style. Definitely one of my favorite commission pieces.
If you haven't read it already, dig up a copy of his Crogan Family Adventures story that takes place in Japan the first chance you get, it is a fantastic little story.

Re: Maichan's OTHER art and stuff
I think I actually first found out about Chris here on the Dojo. I think Maka posted something a few years ago, and I sort of kept Chris and the Crogan Adventures filed in my head for future reference. Then last year I bought a few of his books online, that led to buying some art, and so that's where I am today.
I've been wanting to get Crogan's Family Adventure series, but don't know exactly where to start or what to get. I'm a little confused by the various titles published, and their order. Someone, maybe Maka, gave me some advice at one time, but I can't recall what I was told. I'd like to stick with the hardcovers... but won't rule out the softcovers. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks Maichan, I hadn't heard of Chris before today. Looking at your items and the other goodies on his websites I had to sign up through his Patreon site
Looking forward to starting my own collection.

Re: Maichan's GALLERY of OTHER art and stuff
Crogon's Vengeance is the first book and I would start there. I have the black and white version because that came out first. But Chris has since released color version (he did the coloring) of all three books. All three books are great. If you are a die-hard, he did a short eight page crogan story about a US black battalion for a Kickstarter project to get comics textbook into classrooms (which Stan donated cool stuff for a backing tier) a few years back.
Chris' commissions are very reasonable and he does amazing character design. His 555 book is fantastic and even has a "Maka" and a "Takahara" character in there.
I learned about Chris because Stan recommended him here. Chris also did a great interview of Stan http://classic.tcj.com/tcj-300/tcj-300- ... schweizer/
Peace, maka

Thanks for the comments!
Yep, Chris has a unique style that I like. I'm glad if I'm now able to turn someone on to his art, just like I was!
ha! I remember that you mentioned something about "Maka" being in the 555 book!

Thanks Maka! I'm going to have to get a hold of the Crogan books before they get too hard to find.Maka wrote:Crogon's Vengeance is the first book and I would start there.
