I'd probably snag that if I found it, and wasn't there supposed to be an Ooshie too?

I want to publically thank Maka for helping me get the regular Usagi.

The accompanying artwork is by Maka's daughter.

For any Australians here I found the regular Usagi in Target! I was shocked to find him since normally it takes ages to get things here. Haven't spottted the 12inch or little half shell hero yet, im hoping the Walmart exclusive stuff will make it here since we don't have Walmart. If any Aussies spot anything in store let me know where cheers

Thanks, Michael. Just to clarify, Maichan paid for the figure and commissioned my daughter for those art pieces. Thank you for supporting my daughter, Maichan.

And while we are publically thanking each other, I want to publically thank Stan Sakai as well. Here's the story:

I had forgotten to private message Kyle to pick up the Usagi Yojimbo & TMNT comic print at SDCC. So when it came available on stansakia.com, I ordered it. When I saw a package from Stan, it was in the shape of a box. "That's strange to send a poster in a box," I thought. But when I opened it this is what I saw:

WHAT?!?!?! NO WAY!

I opened the box and saw this inside:

I couldn't believe my eyes. I didn't even know what to do or say. I sent Stan a PM thanking him for this generous gift. I wanted to publically thank Stan but I wasn't sure if I should. FB UYD page is awesome but it is not the same community that Todd started here. It seemed too public to thank Stan on Facebook.

Tonight, I was thinking how great this forum has been for me not only with Usagi/Stan fandom but in my personal life too. When I had major surgery in 2005, I posted on the dojo and people wished me luck and a great recovery. When we did a 25th anniversary gift call to give Stan fans' postcards, notes, and art gifts from around the world to celebrate, scores of people contributed. I was even given the chance to give a little speech at SDCC to give Stan the UYD gift (Which was and still is one of the thrills of my life time). When Sharon was sick, Coolray contacted Steve and I to ask if we could do something, and we collected gifts for Sharon and emailed Stan's editor at the time to do a kickstarter to help raise funds. A kickstarter didn't happen but I like to think that could have added to the soil of what became The Sakai Project and Sharon and Stan Sakai CAPS auctions. All these UYD things have added tremendous meaning to my life. And you all are such good people, my on-line and sometimes, my off-line friends. You helping each other out and we geek out on all things Usagi / Stan Sakai. You are my people. :) So I wanted to share with you too.

On facebook, I've been very public about my mom's Alzheimer's disease and the trials my family has been trying to navigate these past few years (especially the last 8 months). It has been the hardest year of my life. I like to think Stan gave this to me as a way of saying, "I'm thinking of you and here a little something special to let you know you are cared about." Stan didn't say that or include any note at all. But that's how I took it and it makes me feel such gratitude and love for Stan. The nicest guy in comics? For sure.

I think I hesitated to post this public thank you because when you are famous, some fans can get too enthusiastic. I didn't want to be seen as one of those people and I don't want to encourage others to be that way either. But I think this forum is made up of amazing people who know that a story of Stan's generosity and kindness is just another example of "that is who Stan Sakai is." You all would appreciate the kindness as much as I do.

So let me publicly thank you, Stan. You have been a hero of mine for a while. But through the years I come to see you as something greater than that. I see you as a friend. Thanks again. Peace, maka

As always, Maka, you manage to say what all of us wish we could find the words to say concerning Stan's generosity towards us Dojo members and to all of his fans in general.

And best wishes for you and your family and your mom......

Awesome Maka....what Steve said!

I'd also like to say thanks for sharing this part of your life 'publicly'. It's not what I expected to see this morning, and as I read your words it brought tears to my eyes. Tears of happiness and tears of sadness (I'm at work as I type this, and it's a little embarrassing to sit at my desk with tears running down my face, but what the heck, right?...). I've been following your mom's and your entire family's journey on Facebook, and it really touches my heart and soul in many ways.

This Dojo and the people here are wonderful. And we're more than fortunate to have Stan among us.

Even though your path has been rough this year, there is always some love just around the corner. I am so happy for you. Best wishes to you and your family, especially your dad and mom.

I love this story!

It stands to reason that the nicest guy in comics has the nicest fans. This really is a wonderful community, and my favourite forum to visit.

The Dojo has been a blessing to me as well with your friendship and support. When CAPS was doing its auctions to help curb expenses for Sharon's medical needs, Maka donated his Usagi collection, including the RokuToys figures, to sell on eBay.

Usagi readers are unique, and I treasure your friendship. I have been to weddings (I even designed an invitation) and, unfortunately, funerals. Some of you have even stayed overnight at our house recently. This whole comics and conventions thing is very new for Julie and her kids and they think a lot of it is very strange, but they agree that the Dojo members are a really wonderful group.

Thank you.
