Was the watercolor story "The Guardian" from the Trilogy Tour II book (and The 20th Anniversary Art of Usagi Yojimbo Book) ever reprinted in one of the trades?Stan Sakai wrote:Yes, the trades collect all of the Usagi stories, including those done for other publications such as the one-pager in Oni Presents, appearances in those Dark Horse anthologies, etc.Thommo wrote:So, if someone have all TPB's, he can say that he has ALL Stan Sakai Usagi work?!
Except for first 3 color specials, off course?
UY Book 19 will take us all the way up to UY vol 3, #75 in the comic book series.
The three color specials will make up the first part of Book 22.

Re: Question concerning the trade collections
No, it was never printed in any of the trades. Printing a color section would increase the price of the book by far more than what I or DH are willing price it.Steve Hubbell wrote:

Probably not. Besides the painted pages, I had a complete set of pencil pages for Return to Adachigahara. So it was pretty easy to ink those, especially when I asked someone else to do most of the inking.Steve Hubbell wrote:Any chance of it getting the same treatment (re-inked) that "Return to Adachigahara" was given?
This is not the case with The Guardian. There are no penciled pages, so I would pretty much have to redraw the entire story. The only situation that I can see where I would redo this story is if I expanded it as I did with One Night in the Cold. Besides, the Trilogy 2 Tourbook is still fairly easily available.

I think Color Specials 2,3, & 4 are easily available. The first one is pretty hard to find. I will have copies at San Diego. If I am going to be at a con or signing near you, I'll bring them if asked.bombcar wrote:Would it be possible to reprint the color series in a special printing, or are they still available on the open, non-collector's market?
I don't think there is enough of a demand to make reprinting the Color Specials economically feasible.
