Friends of mine are sent the trade books by their aunt; I picked them up and began reading them at their house.

Now I'm collecting them myself!

Well, i was fed up with the number of funny animal cartoons which I personally felt were silly and aimed to only please very small kids!

Then I read a comic book review of UY 17 Duel at Kitanoji Temple and decided to find it and check it out for myself, as the review said it was brilliant. And you know what? It wasn't wrong at all :)

UY is another example of how comic books can be an art form in their own right.

The first time I saw Usagi Yojimbo, was in my local library. The volume was The Shrouded Moon, and I didn't get it for, oh, about a year and a half. The reason was that I was doing what most advised against, and that was judging the book by its cover.

Anyways, I got the book, a good four weeks ago, and I live in th US(duh), then couldn't put the book down, and wanted to keep it. So after I returned the book, I scoured the internet to find out what the opther books were called, and was surprised to see that there are about eighteen in circulation, and still are, and another coming sometime this month.

I decided that I had to have the series. I got two books, and now I can't get the rest, 'cause I'm saving up for my own computer, and since the computer is going to be very pricey, I've halted all book buying cycles until I get the computer. But when I can raise enough, get the computer, I'm going to use whatever is left over to get the rest of the series.

Thats basically it[/i]

Short and sweet: I started with Groo. I loved to sit and scruitinize the backgrounds of the large panels (all of them, really) and look for all the fun stuff.
I'm not sure if UY came next, or TMNT. :? But I suspect UY. :)
It's been years, though. Been busy with other stuff, but I'm coming back around again. :D
It's kind of like an old friend that's waited for me.

I read an article about him in a copy of Judge Dredd Megazine about three months ago and was intrigued. I ordered volumes 1 and 2 from Amazon and was hooked from page 1.

Since then I have bought and read all the volumes, the last three issues of the comic (only ones I could get in my local comic shop). Unforunately I have now run out of Usagi, so I guess I'll just have to start again from book one...

A more "comic knowlegable" friend lended me Croatian Usagi Book no. 1, along with Torpedo, noar comic about cynical gangster, of Spanish autors. To gangster I wasn't hooked, but to samurai rabbit - YES! So, now I have about 10 trades in croatian and english, and few regulars! Off course, I will have them all.

One curiosity - there are first 5 books printed in Croatia, all only in hard cover, and libraries are common buyers of those books!

I guess it is appropriate that my first post here is about how I came to be a follower of UY.

The first time I saw an UY comic was in the late eighties, when a friend of mine brought a copy of #1 (I think) back from the UK. I do not remember if I read it then, but I remembered the name and the rabbit well enough to take a second look at the magazine when I moved to a town with a comic shop. After having bought a few of the color magazines (this must have been in 1993-1994) I then collected all the books that went before that and have been buying UY ever since.
