Taking a quick look at these, I think I started with The Powers of Grayskull:
The Legend Begins (00079159) and worked until the end of the list. As I said, I just did the lettering.

I did do some art on other projects for Mattel.

What a small world. To think I read these as a kid, some that you lettered, and then years later I read your comic. Way cool!

What kind of art did you do for Mattel? Concept art?

I think Tom may have even done some lettering.

I also did lettering for the Wheeled Warriors in-pack books written by Christy Marx and drawn by Peter Ledger.

I did some art and lettering for some packaging on the Captain Power (?) boxes, and some art for lenticular giveaways that came with Marvel toys. Lenticulars are those little flicker toys that seem to move as you angle them back and forth.

Did you enjoy doing these sorts of projects or do you prefer just doing comics?

I prefer doing my own comics, of course.

These jobs were done purely for the money and to work with friends. Lee Nordling acted as editor, gathering and assigning all the talent. We were all friends, so everyone worked together smoothly. He also acted as go-between with Mattel.

I had to drive down to Mattel a few times for other projects, and I just hated going there. The secrecy and security there was very oppressive. I also went to other toy companies, and those were fun places. I guess when you're at the top, you don't want to give out any advantage to the competition.

This is all very interesting both about your career as well as toy designs and what not. Did the companies ever give you free toys that you worked on?
