It'll be on December 4th at the Shrine auditorium.
When is Usagi going to have his own Anime Movie/show?

I used to go around the same time. I mostly went to the $1.00 boxes to pick up issues of brozen age comics (swamp thing, Brave and Bold, Worlds Finest) and a few modern ones (Animal Man, Doom Patrol, Hulk, The Question) and some cheap M:TG boxes.Todd Shogun wrote:I used to go to that show, mainly for bootleg anime back in the early 90s. It's more of a monthly comic/sci-fi/toy swap meet than anything else, with usually a special guest or programming type event.
Jackie Chan was a guest one time (but it was in held in the bonaventure hotel [Which is where they used to hold the Annual Beatlefest - which was awesome], not the Shrine). This was right before Hong Kong was being turned over to China. Someone asked Mr. Chan why he decided to stay in Hong Kong (while other's, like John Woo were leaving). Mr. Chan said something like "I choose to try and change from within instead of going."
I also saw Brandon Lee there promoting his movie Rapid Fire (which was at the Shrine). It was fun to hear him talk about his dad and the pre-production of movie Dragon (which, if I recall correctly, he passed on auditioning for the role). I was so sad when he died, I think because he seemed "so every day guy" and cool at this convention promo.
I remember seeing Todd McFarlane as a speaker once at the Shrine convention. <RANT>: I stopped liking Mr. McFarlane that day when he held up a competitors comic and ripped off the comic cover (which was hologramed) and said something like, "Image will never use gimmicks to sell comics. We are all about the story." Yeah, right Mr. McFarlane.

I agree with Todd - it's a swap meet. I haven't been in since 1994, I think. Has it changed?
Peace,
