Okay, I'm missing something. What's wrong with this one that made you want to buy it? It doesn't look like a 9.8 at all to me (check out those corners), but I'm guessing that's not what was on your mind. Is it the transparency of the cover?
I did not mean I could not resist buying it... I meant I could not resist posting a message concerning it and making a snide comment concerning the person / company selling it after their attempt to sell a Usagi Yojimbo vol. 1, #4 as a #1 (and the fact that they banned me from participating in any of their auctions when I sent an inquiry concerning that mistake). The "No Refund" policy was also pretty pathetic concidering that last mistake, I should check if that was included on the issue #1 auction listing.
It was also an indirect way to solicate comments on CGC's preoccupation with grading last month's comics, which possibly contributes to the increasing (?) number of errors being attributed to them.
Now that you mention it, that cover does look pretty transparent, considering it was scanned in the protective case and all.
I can't believe what I'm seeing here. A slabbed UY Vol 3 #87??? You've got to be kidding me. Why would I want to pay $25 bucks for a brand new comic sealed in a plastic container by someone other than the publisher? When I can buy a readable copy for cover price (or less depending on the website)? Does 87 have an ultra-low print run? Is this a variant version with some sort of difference from other #87s? Is the seller a freakin idiot?
There are perfectionist collectors out there now that look to buy 9.8 or 10.0 CGCed copies of all of their new comics. It's sick and twisted, but it's really happening. Considering how expensive it is to CGC an item, as well as the fact that there's no wait time on this one, the seller's price is only slightly insulting.
I'm kind of amazed that Marvel and DC haven't already worked out an arrangement through CGC to sell 10.0 copies directly from the newsstand. Of course, the issues would have to be produced from an entirely different assemblyline in order to guarentee such a high condition, and that would mean that either the CGC copy or the regular copy would invariably be a second print. Let's hope the comic companies are too stupid to see the profit in doing this, as it would royally screw with the comic collecting market on about a thousand different levels.

How much does it cost to get a comic graded by CGC?

Per the web site, the prices range from 15.00 for a 'modern' comic to 30-40 for express service (under a week). Turn around time looks to be about 20-40 days.
And I hear ya on the snide comments Steve I don't know HOW many times I asked questions of comic sellers and got BS answers or when I politely tell them that the comic shown in the auction isn't the one they have advertised for sale I get blown off. My favorite one was when I was searching for a few ashcan comics to complete my collection, one guy appeared to have the one I was hunting for.
Now the ashcan comic in question was offered in 2 editions, standard which was only 500 copies and limited version of only 50 copies. The difference was a different cover in both color and art. I had the standard and was looking for the limited, the guy appeared to be auctioning the limited so I clicked and lo an behold what did I see pictured? The Standard, though both the title of the auction and the starting bid reflected the Limited. I send the seller a note telling him that he might have gotten his auction pics mixed up and posted a photo of the wrong book. Got a reply that it WAS correct and I didnt know what i was talking about.
Needless to say that seller is on my 'Do not buy from' list and promptly narced him out to fellow fans of that comic so they wouldn't be burned or snubbed by the guy.

Add their shipping and insurance fees, and CGCing a modern age comic costs over $20 unless you do it in bulk.
