UY Email Discussion List Moving

Post by Todd Shogun »

As some of you may know, the fate of the UY Email Discussion Group over on Yahoo Groups has been the topic of discussion lately. To make a long story short, that list will be moving to UsagiYojimbo.com. It will still be run by UYD-Daimyo Val "Da Wolfie Gal", who has done a superb job with the list for the past 5+ years, back to when it was first started over at E-Groups. Arigato gozai masu, Wolfie-chan!

The list will also be renamed and revamped to the "UY DojoGroup", with Stan Sakai contributing news and info about Usagi that will appear exclusively on that list! RYAAAAAAAAAAA!!! He has also graciously offered to sponsor future UYD Internet Contests with official UY prizes, that will be offered only to subscribers of the list! Isn't that cool or what? An upcoming contest is already in the works, of which the prize will be an 11" x 14" original drawing of Usagi by Stan himself, suitable for framing.

The DojoGroup is intended to be an alternative to the UY DojoBoard, of which there will be no changes. The DojoGroup originally appeared in 2000 over at E-Groups and has remained an alternative method to discuss UY. The DojoGroup caters more towards those who prefer discussing Usagi over email as opposed to website forums. The same rules and regulations apply to that list as they apply to this General Discussion forum.

If you'd like to join the UY DojoGroup Email Discussion List, you can subscribe over at:

Subscribing should be pretty straightforward, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Is there any way to join and be part of the contests without recieving e-mails? I love a good discussion, but I like to keep a tidy inbox.

What I did (and Stan too) was open an email account separate from our personal accounts just for the Discussion List. Either that or subscribe to the Digest version, which helps tidy up the inbox.

Like I said, there will be some crossover. The subscribers consist of a completely different list. There may be some who are on both, but you need to subscribe seperately to the DojoGroup. Likewise, if you want on the UYD Newsletter Mailing List, that's a separate subscription as well. That makes three membership options here at the UYD. We're trying to differentiate the DojoGroup from the DojoBoard somewhat:

1) Discussions are limited to Usagi/Stan/Stan's stuff ONLY. No discussions on anime, manga, or related topics like on here. Absolutely no off topic whatsoever. That's what the DojoBoard is for.

2) Contests are offered there and not here because this forum is slightly more public than the list. Meaning outsiders have a better chance of dropping in to see what's going on. The DojoGroup list is geared towards the most hardcore UY fans.

3) It provides those who want nothing but Usagi an alternative to the ever-popular DojoBoard, which caters to a much broader audience and topic range.

4) The list will offer info about Usagi contributed by Stan that may appear nowhere else but there (exclusive UY content).

5) Lastly, it gives those unfortunate souls who's Companies have blocked outside web access a chance to discuss Usagi through email instead...:)
