I ran across this photograph and was instantly curious about it's history....
Going up some stairs to the upper offices of Mirage hangs this cool scroll of the one and only Samurai Rabbit....Usagi Yojimbo! If ya ask me, I don't think he wanted his picture taken.
The scroll was made for the third Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie--the one in which they go back to feudal Japan. Peter Laird thought it would be a nice touch to have a Usagi cameo in it, so the producers had this scroll painted. It hangs in a hallway in which there is a huge fight. Unfortunately, the way the scene was shot, you can't even see it.
It now hangs in the stairwell at Mirage Studios in Massachusetts.
What happened to the scroll? Did you keep it, Stan, or has it taken on a life of its own, being passed from person to person and effecting their lives in ways they never would have guessed...
I have seen that Usagi scroll, and in fact, on a visit to Mirage studios some years back, have a picture of myself, with a friend if I recall it correctly, and Dan Berger standing in front of it.
I believe it is still at Mirage, in the stairwell.
And if I also recall it correctly, you can see it, but very briefly in TMNT movie 3. I think it was a hallway shot, where they were sneaking through, and there's a really fast glimpse of it in the background. But I haven't watched that movie in a while, so I can't remember the exact spot.
