Has there ever been a mention of the Ainu people in UY?

I believe they were referred to as Emishi in Grasscutter. There was also mention of them in the story notes of that same issue.

Now that I think about it......

Have any Ainu ever actually appeared in UY?

If they were to appear in UY, what species would they be? Would they all be just one species, or a various group of species like all of the other people in UY?

None have appeared in Usagi yet. I did have a story in mind about foxes and snow cranes.

I think the Ainu will be of various species. They do have distinctive clothing and tattoos that can easily differentiate them from the rest of the Japanese population.

Seems to me that if they were to appear, they would probably be distingished as a race by clothing and cultural indicators rather than by species of animal since, as you mentioned, the characters already appearing don't neccessarily follow a specific species to race correspondence, except of course, the Neko Ninja, the Komori Ninja, and the Mogura Ninja.
