Kyatto Ninden Teyandee, mostly known as Samurai Pizza Cats. Man, I loved that show :D .

There's a movie by Studio Ghibli called Heisei Tanuki Gassen Ponpoko (Pompoko for short) which involves the tanuki (raccoon dogs) in the urbanistic explosion of Japan in the 60's. An enjoyable movie.

There's also one character from Bleach called Sajin Komamura, who is some kind of giant fox.

I can't think of anything else at the moment. But a quick search on the wikipedia shows this.

Let's not forget Studio Gihbli's Sherlock Hound.

Also, there's quite a few furries in Johji Manabe's Outlanders.

Sherlock Hound. Wow, I'm having flashbacks right now. That was one great show.

There were so many good shows when I was a kid...

Japan has managed to foster its own furry fandom over the years.......through the traditional kemono style of art. My favorite kemono artist is Dr. Comet, but that's just me. (My fellow furries will know who I'm talking about).

Kemono has been around for a long time, and shows up alot in traditional art.

For example, those who have been on the forum for a while may remember this particular painting I showed.......

So, anthropomorphism isn't unique to Japan at all.
