Stan Sakai's Sin City

Post by Stan Sakai »

Dark Horse is publishing a 20th Anniversary Pin-up Book featuring their characters, but drawn by other creators. Frank asked me to do a Sin City piece. Sorry--no Nancy. I owe him a pin-up for the Usagi drawing that he did for me. Sergio is also scheduled to be in it, though I've forgotten what he's drawing.

I think the books comes out in June or July.

Cool, Something new to look forward to.

Any word on the "Beasts" project from Fantagraphics Books for which you contributed the picture of the Gaki?

Abayo....

Is there going to be a Usagi piece in it?
And if so, who's drawing it?

Thanks,
MikeM

I think Frank Miller is doing Usagi, though it is probably the image that was used for Dark Horse Presents a few years ago. He's a mite busy working on the next Sin City movie.

I haven't heard anything about it for awhile. It was schedule for spring of this year. Knowing Fantagraphics though, I'm not surprised that it's running a bit late.

DARK HORSE TWENTY YEARS

By Arthur Adams, Sergio Aragonés, Bob Burden, Paul Chadwick, Adam Hughes, Frank Miller, Tony Millionaire, Cary Nord, Eric Powell, Stan Sakai, Matt Wagner, Chris Warner, Joss Whedon and others, cover by Mike Mignola.

Eric Powell draws Star Wars, Adam Hughes draws Hellboy, and Joss Whedon makes his artistic debut -- that's just a smidge of what's included in this 25-cent gift to all the fans who've supported Dark Horse Comics through our first twenty years!

Dark Horse Comics is proud to present Dark Horse Twenty Years, a collection of original art by a distinguished list of Dark Horse creators, past and present. Every page holds a different piece, each showcasing a character from the company's history of great original and licensed properties. Instead of drawing their own creations, these jaw-dropping talents have traded characters, each offering an unexpected take on one of the icons of Dark Horse.

Legends of comics drawing the characters you'd never expect. You won't see this much talent in the same place for another 20 years!

24 pages, 25 cents, in stores on July 5.

That's a great pic, Steve.

As for the pin up...I'm thinking Miho from "Big Fat Kill"...she was the best part of the entire movie.

Damn!! That sounds awesome!! And that Mignola cover is dynamite!! Nice to see Usagi front and center. Although, I have to say I'd rather see a new image of Usagi in the book rather than Miller's DHP cover. As nice as it is Dark Horse has already used it twice.

Will most comic stores and places like that be carrying it?

Howdy,

If your local comic shop carries Dark Horse comics, they'll probably carry the 25-cent book. If they don't normally carry Dark Horse comics, you can get them to pre-order this issue for you next month.
