An interesting topic for the day....

Post by Steve Hubbell »

Poking around on the internet today, I ran across this image on another forum (The Vicious Cabaret) http://www.forumcommunity.net/ and thought it was interesting enough to repost here.....

Image
[note the issue number, which does not match up with the Original Dark Horse comic which featured this cover, and Yojimbo (above the issue number) is not spelled correctly.]

Seems to be an Italian edition (see "2 di 3", due di tre) in the upper-left corner. They should have written "yoggimbo" with two g's (in Italian, the written form "ggi" corresponds to the sound "jee").

Actually, it's like writing "Oussagui Yodjinebô". It would make the pronunciation clear for the French, but it's ridiculous.

Besides, the price is in euros (5€, eech ! how many pages does it have ?)

The weird or strange thing is that the Italian editions are published by King Comics (initially) and now by Bottero Edizioni, not by Dark Horse.

There has not been any mention of an Italian language edition published under the Dark Horse imprint, besides this particular image, that I've been able to find.

I wonder if it is a "mock-up" or fake cover somebody composed.

Also, sorry about the link to the thread on the Vicious Cabaret forum, that forum apparently does not seem to allow links straight to specific threads.

hello everybody.
i'm alessandro bottero.

what you see is the italian version of Usagi Yojimbo (i mantain the original name).

this is the OFFICIAL version, given the fact i've an agreement with dark horse.

i was behind the king comics italian books of Usagi, and now i hope to publish USagi with my own publishing house.

it's all legal ^__^

Welcome to the Usagi Yojimbo Dojo, Alessandro, and I apologize if I might have given the impression in my previous posts that your editions, both under the King Comics and the Bottero Edizioni imprint, were anything but legal.

I was mainly commenting on the inclusion of the Dark Horse Comics logo on the cover of the book shown above, and which is not included on the covers of any of the previous books you have released. Because I had come across the image on a forum, I was not sure whether it was the "official" cover which you planned to use on the nexrt release, or if it might have been something put together by a fan.

Would you have any recommendations on where Usagi Yojimbo fans might purchase copies of Usagi Yojimbo published by King Comics and Bottero Edizioni and which offer international delivery?

Thanks again for visiting the Usagi Yojimbo Dojo and contributing to the discussion. Hopefully, you will visit again.

Abayo.....

thank you steve for your kind words.

dark horse logo was on the back of the king comics books.

if i understan correctly you are asking me if a foreigner reader (foreigner = outside italy) could purchase italian version of usagi yojimbo king comics & bottero edizioni. right?

i can send my book (and king comics too) everywhere. but i suppose it's better if who is interested e-mail me at a.bottero@botteroedizioni.it leaving all the commercial things outside this forum.

what i can do (and i'll do gladly) is post the list of the italian usagi yojimbo books, with the stories inside.

have a good day.

Welcome to the Usagi Dojo, Alessandro. I remember last meeting you at Angouleme, France two years ago.

My Dark Horse editor Diana Schutz will be in Lucca in November. I will be at the comics festival at St Malo, France during the same time.
