San Diego Con 1989

Post by Todd Shogun »

Here's some photo's I dug up... I think this was also the same year I bought my copy of Albedo NR 2. It all seems so long ago... too bad the pics came out so badly. Hopefully one day Stan will go through his garage and get a better version of the group shot! Anyway this stuff is definitely pre-Dojo...

Yes it is. For the interested, it's on a 22"x14" drawing board, much larger than your typical Sakai drawing. It has always been too big to scan, hence why it does not appear on this website. It has yellowed somewhat over the years, but it is 17 years old (and I've never been the one knowledgable on protecting artwork, but I try...). As my memory serves me, I was there on Saturday and Sunday, made the request on Saturday and it was complete by Sunday. I get the feeling Stan spends his Con nights drawing commissions! I did however get to watch him draw some of it. It was amazing, especially for a 15-year old anonymous fanboy.
