I'll argue point B isn't impossible now ;)

(hey, I did it this year and most likely I'll be back at San Diego next year cos it was a blast)

Hmmm mind you it's given me an idea for a commission to ask Stan about for next year's Con heh...

I suppose really depends if you can afford it... prices for plane fare during July/August have gone silly in the last few years. I used to be able to get myself out towards to the West Coast for about 400 GBP in the past, and now it's almost double that. Just have to start saving already.

I really hope another Con I go to (it wasn't on this year, hence why I went to SDCC) is the following weekend to SDCC next year so I can do both together. Here's fingers crossed.

Me feel so envious of you all, though I'm new to the boards. Its good to know that I'm not alone in my joy of finding others out there who enjoy the adventures of the butt kickn rabbit, and though I may never get the chance to meet you in real life (I live way down here in New Zealand!) its just great to see people having fun.

Hope to meet you all in the forums...

This reminds me, I just booked my room for SDCC 2007 last week. What a pain finding a reasonable rate for a hotel in downtown. But I got lucky and finally got a rate under $100/night. At least I don't have to juggle between multiple hotels like I did last time. It pays to book early, but damn these hotels are really starting to catch on. I just stayed in downtown SD a couple weeks ago on business, and [the Company] paid about $150/night for Westgate. Same rates for SDCC weekend next year were well over double that.... Sheesh!!

At any rate, I'll be there Wed-Sun, the longest SDCC stay yet. While I was in SD a couple weeks ago, I had dinner at a fairly decent Japanese sushi restaurant on 2nd st near the Westgate/Horton Plaza. The back room was fairly well-sized, quite possibly good enough for a Dojo event. Let me know if anyone is interested. Probably should plan well in advance...

I think a Dojo event would be awesome, but at Horton Plaza? That place is confusing to someone who works there on a daily basis, much less people who have never been there. Although, getting schnockered on hot sake with dojomates does sound pretty awesome. Hmm. Quite the quandry...

Hello Tounian,
Where is the best place for the Dojo members to meet in San Diego?
Best wishes to all!

We should get together!!
And sushi would be awesome!

Horton Plaza is fun trying negotiate that Escher-place the first couple times you are there. But it can be done! And it would be part of the adventure.

Luckily it's not in Horton plaza, only nearby. It's actually at 135 Broadway and is called Sushi Deli. It's not the best most authentic sushi place around, but for a bunch of comic book fans it's perfect! The bad part is they don't take reservations, so we definitely need to plan ahead. The good part is the place is larger than most sushi places, and it's not buffet-style either like Todai. It's also much more affordable, and they sell nigiri sushi by the piece instead of two pieces per serving which I thought was kinda cool.

Here's their website: http://www.sushidelitoo.com/

Check out their menu and let me know what you think. I ordered a bunch of food when I was there and didn't finish it all. Full dinner for two with a good helping of sushi was only 25 bucks.
