Can't find #'s 18 & 19 of the Fantagraphics series
I've bought these 3 times on ebay, including an "entire" lot that was guaranteed not to be missing any issues, and I've gotten ripped off every time. For some reason I cannot find these issues anywhere. Not online, not ebay, not craigslist, not any of my local shops.
I own all other Fantagraphics issues, all of Mirage, and the first few Dark Horse issues but I have been stuck at Fantagraphics #17 for months because I'm missing these two issues!
If anyone knows where to get these, or has doubles and wants to sell them, please let me know.
Thank you very much.

Today I'd probably agree. When I was trying to fill out the set a few years back, the colour Mirage ones were a pain to find by comparison however. Sadly despite having a few spare Fantagraphics issues, I don't have #18 or #19 here. I checked a few online places I buy from and they don't have stock either. eBay scouting might really be the only way.
With a breeze comes a storm, but then you'll all be washed away...

A philanthropic member of the board contacted me and offered to send me the missing issues! I am very grateful.
I found several UY issues of Critters at a used bookstore (Half Price Books) here in Phoenix for $1 each. I also found Albedo NR #3 & #4 in one of the above-mentioned private collections and he threw them in the pile I was already buying for free. My heart was literally pounding wondering if I was going to see a #2 in there, but I think I would have had to tell him that it was too valuable to give away. I would have made him an offer on the spot though and framed it in my bonus room!estee wrote:I also find that the Fantagraphic books are really expensive...sometimes running $5 or more per issue. I still haven't filled in the entire series.
Critter issues with Usagi are off the scale expensive.

Glad you got the issues! I'm continually impressed by the friendliness and generosity of our fellow Dojo members.
Don't you just love finding those hidden jems that ordinary people don't even know they have. Wish you did find #2.Ogami Itto wrote:A philanthropic member of the board contacted me and offered to send me the missing issues! I am very grateful.

Definitely. This guy "collected" comic books - meaning he had about 10 long boxes of bagged and boarded comics but he had never read any of them. That is something I will never understand. I'd bet that he had a #2 at some point and someone who knew what it was bought it off of him.estee wrote:Don't you just love finding those hidden jems that ordinary people don't even know they have. 5 dollars per issue? That's the normal going rate of comic books...cep maybe a couple bucks moreestee wrote:I also find that the Fantagraphic books are really expensive...sometimes running $5 or more per issue. I still haven't filled in the entire series.

At San Diego, I usually have complete sets of the Fantagraphics run for $125 (little more than $3 an issue), and Mirage sets for $50. All signed.Evil_T0NY wrote:5 dollars per issue? Dearest Sensei,
would you consider shipping them? That would save me a lot of trouble looking out for them on ebay....
And I think I can't make it to San Diego....Least not this decade..

Greetings from overseas

Shipping costs would be quite expensive, perhaps more than the books are worth.
I won't make it a habit of shipping things, but pm or e-mail me if you are really interested.
