UY 100 poster

Post by Stan Sakai »

I learned this afternoon that DH is going to print up the cover of UY as 17x24" giveaway posters. Unfortunately, it will be a retailer incentive, so will only be given to stores that order a minimum number of UY 100.

That issue comes out in January.

Ok;
do you know what that "minimum" amount is? Maybe I can coerce my Comic Store into ordering more than usual..
Or maybe I'll have them order that amount for me... UY 100 would make a very nice birthday present for some of my friends, to boost their interest in Usagi and their English....
Come to think of it, there still may be some friends I haven't infected with Usagi-fondness yet....

Just an idea....
Greetings from overseas

I do not know if the offer applies to overseas shops. I'll have to ask DH.

I started signing the prints today. They are beautiful. It's about 18x24 inches, the printing is very good, and on excellent paper. The quality is almost as good as the Dragon print, and is about $100 cheaper.

A lot will probably end up on E-bay.

Ebay, huh? Looks like I'll have to keep an eye over there. The cover for #100 really is a keeper.

Thanks for giving your hand a few more exercises, Stan!

Does anyone have any more information on the minimum required to get the poster? Thanks.

Whoo hoooo!

My local comicbook store just called me back. They said they normally order 10 issues of UY, but if I wanted to pick up the extra 5, they would throw in the poster for free! So for 6 issues of UY #100 (~$23, I guess) I get the signed poster of that beautiful cover. I feel lucky tonight!

Peace,

maka

Congrats, Maka! Which reminds me, we are only 4 days away from the release of UY 100!! Not sure if everyone has seen the preview art, but there are 6 pages available in the This Month in UY section....http://usagiyojimbo.com/newinuy.html

Speaking of the UY poster, I wonder how many DHC actually printed? Did they wait to print until they received all orders for UY 100? Or did they anticipate a certain number and printed before the orders came in? The former would seem the more logical. I know they are signed, so it would stand to make sense they had a deadline to place orders very early, and printed enough posters to cover the 15 single-issue orders.

The posters had to be printed and signed before DH received orders for UY 100. There were 600 printed. I imagine that maybe 100 or more will be given away in the retailer incentive. That means DH will have a lot of left overs that I do not know what they will do with. I imagine many will be given to employees and to special friends and customers. But that still leaves a lot.

I preordered 15 copies so I could get my free poster. Can't wait to get it.

Don't suppose you could keep some Stan for distribution to us folks here? ;)

(given I'm probably not going to be able to make San Diego this year, I would gladly, GLADLY pay for shipping on one to the UK)
