UY Book 1

Post by Stan Sakai »

The new edition of UY Book !: The Ronin has been published. It follows the new format that Fantagraphics has been using for the Usagi books. One thing I find especially nice are the chapter breaks between stories.

Cool. I don't have book 1 yet.

Did you "George Lucas" out that one human character you wish you had never shown? :)

(Which volumes have new designs now?)

Personally, (and I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this), I've always liked that Hikiji was established as a human. It sets him apart from the rest of the UY cast in a very distinct and frightening way. The fact that he's remained off-screen for the rest of the series only adds to the aura of mystery and menace around him.

I've always speculated that gaijin (aka foreigners) could be humans too, seeing as how they've remained as elusive as Hikiji, but I might be proven wrong in the next issue for all I know.

I dunno... I feel a little discriminated against that all the most evil and cruel characters in Usagi (Hikiji, and then Ocho from "Village of Fear") are depicted as humans! We aren't all that bad!
