Always nice to see a new reader.

I see you've decided to give us a glimpse of Usagi's death!

Has Sakai ever used the death balloon on a guy who was still standing?

Nice work, even if it is a bit fatalistic.... especially like the death balloon.

It would be just like Usagi to fight on, meeting death on his feet with sword still in hand.....

Welcome to the Dojo, as well!

It reminds me somewhat of the original ending Stan had for Usagi, fighting alongside Nilson and Hermie against the ogre-humans. I seem to recall Stan saying that Usagi would even have caught an arrow in the eye.

thanks for the comments. I drew this like a couple of months ago when I first started reading Usagi Yojimbo and it's supposed to be like his last stand. (I tried to make him look older)

Whoa! These pieces are awesome!!! It reminds me of a good horror story!
But Usagi dying? :( I know he should not fear death, but without him...*sighs* it's kinda sad....

I'm drawing two pictures inspired by Usagi Yojimbo vol. 21(that I will scan soon) and I was wondering if anyone knows the kanji of Katsuichis name?

Death of Usagi

Post by Tinlantern »

I know its morbid, but I always think about how Usagi will end.

I remember learning that Waterson was ending Calvin and Hobbes and I thought, "geez, how could he possibly end such a great strip?! With so much left to say about the world." But of course, it was Calvin and Hobbes sledding off into the future without us.

So will Usagi walk off into the distance or will he die like a samurai? Will he ever settle? Become a teacher? He leaves behind a legacy, not to mention Jotaro. Any way I end it in my head it never feels quite right.

Which is why its left to Mr. Sakai. Inevitable.
