Post by Ronin-K »

Hi, UY Dojo people. This is another topic where I would like people to tell about #104. Thank You! Do not hesitate to spoil, because there is no chance I will get my hands on one anytime soon.

That's what the Dark Horse Upcoming Comics page says at this point. That doesn't mean it is a certainty.

Mother of Mountains should be out shortly, and the books sometimes result in a skip month for the monthly.

ahh... so apparently I picked a bad time to try to get into a rythm with the single issues. I will keep an eye on the DH site - Thanks sschroeder!

(that's pronounced shredder right? is it a TNMT reference?)

Eh... It doesn't matter. I started buying this series at # 65, which according to DH was the end of March, 2003. So over 4 years later, we are only at 103. The book isn't monthly. I can understand how you feel though since there was a skip month after # 100 too.

You might want to check the shipping list from Diamond each week to see if the book is out.

No, it is just my first initial and last name.

Blame this on my traveling. I was gone about 10 weeks last year. I could normally finish about two issue in that time. And I'm not counting the time it takes to decompress from a trip.

My deadline for UY 107 is July 18. However, with my trip to France and preparing for San Diego, I'll probably miss that date by a few days.

I vow every year that I won't travel as much, but some of these invitations are too good to pass up. I did decline two international invitations this year. So that's a start.

Stan - please don't think I'm complaining in any way. I am amazed at your output and that you can more or less maintain it despite all the travelling you do is a bit mind boggling! I will wait patiently (after all I'm a hellboy fan - we know how to wait) and certainly would never begrudge you your con appearances and travel - otherwise I'd never have met you!

I was just trying to get a feel for when I can allow myself to begin anticipating the next UY.

Oh no, I did not think you were complaining in the least. I write or thumbnail most of my stories on the plane now, and, of course, I have to take work with me. That's a discipline I learned from Sergio. You don't get nearly as much done, though.

There was an issue of Groo that Sergio did while vacationing in Tahiti. The back of the pages were full of water color painting of sunsets, huts above the water, and coconut trees.

The classic working trip occurred a few years ago when we were guests of the Motor City Con. We were up against some tight deadlines. Sergio had an 8-page story (Bhutan) to complete for DH's Autobiographix (I had turned in my story two months earlier). He wrote it on the plane to Detroit, while I thumbnailed an issue of Usagi. That evening, he gave me the Bhutan pages. I edited and lettered it, while he worked on ideas for "A Mad Look at the Mummy". In the morning, I gave him the Bhutan pages, and he faxed the Mummy roughs to Mad for approval. For the rest of the con, I inked my story, while he penciled and inked Bhutan. And we made the deadlines.

That's amazing! I wonder if the travel has any affect on the work... I mean conceptually I guess it works well that both Usagi and Groo are wanderers. I sometimes get the sense that little bits of your life spill over into Usagi's world.

Kudos to you (and Sergio) for professionalism and hard working-ness(?) but most of all maintaining your passion in the face of the hard work and deadlines and crazy schedules and keeping the spirit and beauty of the work intact. It's what makes it such an enduring treasure to experience on this end.

My mistake. I was sure #104 would out in early July.

There are names of cities or countries on the bottoms of some of the Groo pages. Those are the places in which those particular pages were inked.

On this trip, I plan to write my Samurai Hulk story on the flight to Chicago, write the story for UY 108 on the flight to Paris. I'll probably thumbnail 108 on the flight back. The rest of the time will be spent on drawings for San Diego.

According to Diamond, Volume 21 comes out this week. (Tomorrow due to July 1 / 4 holliday)

Not sure when the hard cover is coming out.

I can't wait to see the Samurai Hulk story. Hulk is my all time favourite superhero!

Isn't it a little odd that we're one day away from #104's official publication, and we still haven't seen any previews? :?

I think that preparing for the upcoming SDCC is probably distracting the good hard-working folks at Dark Horse Comics, as well as a lot of the staffs of the various comic oriented web-sites.
