Dark Horse TPBs that are hard to come by.

Post by Manon »

I recently got into Usagi, and started buying the TPB's is chronological order.

I was put to an abrupt stop at vol. 8, discovering that volume's 8, 9, and 15 are all currently out of stock at Dark Horse's website, and cannot be ordered through any independent comic shop or major book retailer.

I was wondering if this is a known issue, and if it happens often with UY books?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Welcome to the world of Usagi! I hope you'll continue to hang around the community and chat with us as you read :)

All the Dark Horse tpbs are being re-released sometime this year. Some have been hard to come by until now, but that will change soon.

The hardcover tpbs are the only ones that will remain difficult to find. One just sold for $300 the other day

According to the schedule, all the DH trades will be reprinted in May. The next new book, UY Book 21: The Mother of Mountains, will be available in July.

Amazon and eBay are good places to find Usagi trades.

The only one I had problems finding was Vol 4. Which I found the new version on eBay.

Are the new Usagi Yojimbo trades still the same size as the earlier volumes?

Recently, Dark Horse has been releasing new Omnibus books and they are real tiny. They have shrunk the trade format down on the Star Wars, Aliens/Predator Omnibuses in a big way. The art panels have alot of shrinkage due to the latest format.

Has Dark Horse tried to do that to the Usagi collections?

I think the new smaller omnibus format may be the reason why new Groo trades are still delayed....

We talked about putting out an Usagi "brick"--three volumes in one big book. We never talked about it being in the smaller, manga-size format though. Anyway, that idea has been shelved for now.

The French editions are printed manga size, and they look really good.

Bricks would be cool! I wouldn't mind them being smaller myself, as long as the binding held up to repeated readings.

Did I miss a printing? I still haven't seen volume 10 in print. I don't like to purchase from resellers, only retailers, and I'm really wanting to read the series in order (vol. 11 has been sitting patiently on my bookshelf for sometime now). Is there a new printing from Dark Horse expected soon on vol. 10?

Is Grasscutter II going to be back in print soon? I've wanted to get it for a while since it's the only TPB that I don't have.

Funny you should mention Grasscutter II. Just this past weekend, I received an e-mail forwarded to me by Kim Thompson from a mother who was looking for Grasscutter II. The only one she could find was priced at $50 (she recently bought another out of print volume for $45)! I bent my rule about working through the mails, and offered her a copy for cover price plus postage.

Yes, I still do have a few left. I will be bringing them to San Diego. Wasn't this reprinted just a year ago?
