8 different Usagi Hardcovers on eBay, ending January 6th

Post by Soba »

Hello, everyone!

In order to raise some money for graduate school and to ease a planned move to a new house, I am auctioning off a large number of my collectibles on eBay, including 8 different Usagi signed and numbered hardcovers. I thought long and hard about letting these go, but I think it's for the best if I pass them along to someone who will give them a good home.

I am auctioning every hardcover I own: Book Five (Lone Goat and Kid), Shades of Death, Seasons, Grasscutter, Grey Shadows, Demon Mask, The Shrouded Moon, and Space Usagi.

I also have a number of other things I'm auctioning in this batch, including out of print Bone books (most notably the one volume hardcover from a few years back).

You can find my auctions here: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcrimed ... ooZ1QQrdZ0

Thanks for reading, and please spread the word if you know someone else who might be interested.

Best wishes,
Matt, aka "Soba"

Thanks for posting the heads up and good luck on the auctions. The bids for Grasscutter seem to have piled up pretty quick already.

Oh it's you selling them Soba...? I didn't realise... and here's me asking whether you knew about this place ;)

I'll be in for a few of them, not sure about Grasscutter, wish it would never go that high now...

It's okay. :)

I don't usually have enough time to come by the forums, and I'm not sure I've ever posted. (I do pop in and read through some of the posts from time to time, though.)

Wish I had time to get a bit more involved!

Hi Matt,

I hope the auctions do well for you. Hopefully, I'll see you at Anthrocon in June.

Indeed, the same sentiments apply... given I just missed out on a #3 tonight, I might divert some of the money I was going to use for that towards getting the Grasscutter ;)

Thanks, Mr. Sakai.

For the record, I am definitely keeping all of my paperbacks!

Likewise, I really hope to see you again in June. I intend to be there, though I have a wedding to attend in Boston the weekend before, so I think I'm going to be a little travel weary...

All my best to you and your family. I hope you'll have them in tow should you make the trip to Pittsburgh. :)

Hannah definitely wants to go. Matthew may be going to cross country camp in the Sierra Mountains.

I remember you have a few very nice pieces of Usagi art, including the original for the Art of UY cover. Make sure you post a notice if you ever decide to put those up on ebay.

I've placed a bid on the issues I'm interested in; I hope your auctions will go well (although not too far beyond my bid, of cource   ).

If I should win some of the auctions, the HC will be in good hands, in deed...

From the "Ack!" department:

A potential bidder pointed out an error I made in most of my auction listings in that I neglected to build in the lowest priced international shipping method, thus shipping costs shown for buyers outside of the US are frightfully expensive. Since the auctions have bids, I am not able to change the offered shipping methods, but I did post a revision on the affected auctions asking international bidders to e-mail me and I would give them a shipping quote manually.

For Mayhem and Thomas, shipping to the UK or Germany on one book is about $15. Multiple books would bring the price up gradually until the package's weight exceeds 4 pounds, then the cost jumps a bit. (I usually give shipping discounts to buyers outside the USA, and since these books will probably be bid up a good ways, I'd be happy to eat some of the shipping cost.)

And I currently have no plans to sell any of my Usagi original artwork. I think I'd sell my car first if it ever came to that. :)

Thanks to all for the good wishes!

Thank you for the information concerning international shipping; since I placed a bid for several issues, I didn't really look at the shipping costs, because (if fortune is on my side) multiple issues are special regarding shipping costs, I know.

Understood; besides, a car is eating up money just by being there, let alone when driven; original art does not take up too much space, is easy to carry around and lifts your heart everytime you that a look at it. So why ever part with it, if not in dire need??

Jesus, three days to go and Grasscutter HC is up for 228 US $ already!!
I should show this to my wife as a proof my purchase for 75 US $ really was a bargain...

Hardcover final sale prices

Post by Soba »

To provide a semi-permanent record of the sale prices, here are the final amounts:

Book Five - Lone Goat and Kid: $86.04
Shades of Death: $122.50
Seasons: $94
Grasscutter: $256.50 (!)
Grey Shadows: $87
Demon Mask: $90
Shrouded Moon: $97
Space Usagi (very slightly damaged): $109.50

Buyers hailed from the USA, the UK, Ireland, and Spain.

Congratulations to Mayhem for his winnings. :) I now have quite a bit of shipping to do!

Many, many thanks to all who bid. You're helping to pay my tuition!

Best wishes,
Matt
