Dave Stevens

Post by Stan Sakai »

I've been acquainted with Dave Stevens for almost thirty years. We weren't good friends, but we would see each other every so often in social occasions--it helped that we both had common friends such as Mark Evanier, Sergio Aragones, and Scott Shaw!.

Dave was a wonderful artist and a good guy. He passed away yesterday. Here is a link to Mark's site about Dave:

I just found this out while on newsarama.com. I am so shocked and saddened by this news. The Rocketeer is one of my favorite comics and movies. Ever since I first saw the film I've been collecting anything Rocketeer related. I always wanted to get out to Comic Con to meet him.

My prayers and thoughts go out to his friends and family.

I'm sorry to hear about Dave Stevens passing. I liked the Rocketeer story and art. I also liked the Disney movie. Thanks for the link. Peace, maka

I was at Steven Murphy's site reading with shock how Kevin Eastman had finally sold off the last of his connection with Peter Laird/Mirage/TMNT-- and then, as I scrolled down, saw the post about Dave Stevens!

So young! And I have to say so good-looking-- indeed, his looks kept me from ever approaching him for an autograph *blushes*. I would stand there at the various Comic-Cons and see the lines, and I could never bring myself to get in line. I am ashamed now. I have missed out on meeting a truly talented person.

I hope his family finds comfort.

Wow...this is a shock.

I hardly heard a word about it.

A great talent. He'll be missed. :(
