I think the Shogun should show up as a Liger, a cross between a tiger and a lion. The Liger is arguably the largest carnivorous land mammal in existence, beating out the likes of Siberian tigers, full-grown male lions, Polar bears and Kodiak bears. While not naturally occuring, they would theoretically be at the top of the food chain...and would represent the Shogun well.
What I've noticed in UY is that Stan typically will choose an animal best representative of the character being portrayed...behavior, skills, symbolism, and other qualities. Cats, bats, and moles represent ninjas. Usagi's Lord was a tiger, his sensei a lion. Hebi is a snake. Even the presence of "evil" or the "dark side" is represented as a human in Lord Hikiji (humans are the only animals able to exhibit evil). I think the Shogun should be the biggest, baddest animal around.
A crocodile would be another cool choice for Shogun. The saltwater and Nile varieties are the largest carnivores that can walk on land.
Third place would be a Polar bear, the largest naturally-occurring carnivorous land mammal. Think Iorek Byrnison from The Golden Compass, but in samurai armor...that would be too cool.

I say make the Shogun into a basset hound. Screw with everybody's expectations.Todd Shogun wrote:What I've noticed in UY is that Stan typically will choose an animal best representative of the character being portrayed...behavior, skills, symbolism, and other qualities.
