Ichi the killer
I just saw this and I think it's one of the greatest japanese horror movies ever. It is a great piece of art. Anyone else see this?

I saw it on DVD a couple of years ago, and I thought that there were a few pretty good parts, but I wasn't blown away. Maybe I need to give it another try. Sometimes I'm pretty lukewarm on a movie at first but then it grows on me.
I've yet to completely fall in love with Takashi Miike's work. He may need to concentrate more on quality than on quantity with his work. There have been a few that I liked (if I had to pick a favorite, it would probably be the crazy-yet-relatively-tame-by-Miike-standards Happiness of the Katakuris), but I'm generally not a great fan of his work, and there are a couple that I gave up on simply because I thought that they were boring. I did think that the Masters of Horror episode he directed was pretty good, but it really should have been in Japanese rather than English.
One Miike movie that I want to see sometime is Great Yokai War. I'm also somewhat interested in Sukiyaki Western Django. Anyone know when that's coming to DVD?
