TMNT 29?

Post by MikeM »

Ok, I'm asking here because I know there are a bunch of TMNT fans here as well.

I am doing some comic inventory of my Usagi, Mice Templar, Elephantmen and TMNT comics and I notice that on the TMNT webpage there is a TMNT issue 29 out in April? How did I miss this? I didn't see it solicited at all. Has this come out already?

Thanks,

MikeM

After I posted I read that it was only available online and was a limited run. I think thats incredibly uncool if true. That would alienate a big chunk of your fan base by them having a gap in their collection.

Wow, I had no idea it was gonna be TMNT site online only. I knew they were planning to bring it back in April or May so I was awaiting for it to arrive in the inventory of the comic shops I normally order from.

So many thanks for the heads-up there. I'm gonna have to get myself to the NY Con one year so I can meet all the guys...

Having received my copy of #29, here's the scoop. It seems Peter is a bit annoyed with all the demands required by Diamond and in an effort to lessen the load and make life easier, until further notice this is how things are playing out.

The normal comic continues as usual. When it is completed, it will be made available for free to download online. For those people wanting a printed version there will be a limited run of 1000 copies per issue made, available to buy from the site store for $10 each.

So you can still read the comic even if you don't want to pay... interesting.

This may be a little rude of me, but that pisses me off. I dont want to read a comic online and I don't want to buy it via the web either. I want to get it from my local comic shop and collect it. That's cool though. I have been looking for things to drop off my pull list anyway.

There is only one comic that I would get online like that, (if I had to) and its the one that has a dojoboard that I am a proud member of.

For the longest time I've not had the choice to get my comics from a local shop anyhow, so I guess I'm used to ordering them online for years now...

There IS a comic shop just a few miles from me, but annoyingly they offer some of their stock only online and Usagi happens to be one of them so I have to buy it that way as opposed to walking in and grabbing it. Otherwise I'd head there each month to get Usagi and Tales of the TMNT.

I can understand Peter's decision in some ways. If you are a smallish publisher, to which Mirage is, then spending all this time doing things for Diamond takes away from the time needed to be spent on actually producing the comic and other TMNT related things. The other option would be to hire more people I guess to do this thing, so perhaps they don't have the budget to expand the workforce.
