Albedo 2
I just got Albedo 2 9.6 grade for $180! I have been saving up for a hardback since I had to get rid of mine a while ago, but all of a sudden this came up on eBay. Exciting!
So now I guess the temptation is to take it out of the CGC package....grrr.

Wow, hope it's real!
That's sweet that you found a high quality graded copy of Albedo 2 for $180. Sounds too good to be true. There are a lot of counterfeits out there! When did you win it cuz I get email notifications for Albedo 2 and haven't seen anything for a while.
If it's legit at 9.6 CGC it should have gone for more like a $1000, but, if it is indeed as advertised, NICE FIND!!!

A cautionary tale
Well, hell.
I don't know if I am lucky or cursed. The comic arrived yesterday and guess what? It was Usagi Yojimbo #1 graded at CGC 9.6 and NOT, in fact, Albedo Vol.1 #2.
It turns out while using my watch list on eBay I accidentally bid on the wrong one without realizing. Good news is that the seller is accepting the issue back again.
SO. Heh. If anyone is...er...interested in a 9.6 USAGI YOJIMBO #1 then it'll be back on eBay in a week or two I am sure. The guy is great and ships very safely.
I wish I had a picture of my face when I opened the priority mail box. It was kind of like throwing up and panic at the same time.
Good grief.

Uff da
Lol, man, that sounds like a crazy situation. You must have been clicking buttons like mad to make the buy so excited that Albedo 2 just dropped in your lap when you were delusional bidding late at night. Lol, wow, a picture seeing you open the package would have been great. I can hear the *thunk* in your stomach too!
As far as the seller, wow, that's fantastic that he would accept it back and refund your money fully. That's a great seller!
Better luck next time!

I guess that also explains why I had no luck looking for a completed ebay listing for an auction of an Albedo #2 which sold for $180.....
http://cgi.ebay.com/Rare-CGC-9-6-Usagi- ... .m14.l1318
(Strange how there was a picture of the comic in the list, but the actual auction description page does not show the comic)

Yow! $180 for a book that Stan still carries around to conventions and sells for cover price. You either have to be crazy or (in your case) be in error to bid on such a high price. CGC really means nothing...
I have to admit, that is one cool seller for taking the book back. You got seriously lucky!

Actually, I sell it for way more than cover price--$5. Not bad for a 20 year old comic book, but they would not be graded at 9.6.Todd Shogun wrote:Yow! $180 for a book that Stan still carries around to conventions and sells for cover price.
I did sell an Albedo #2 at the con. The buyer was very impressed with the condition--nice white pages, no creases, sharp corners. A guy from CGC had to come over to witness me signing it. Then he took it away for grading. The buyer will get it back in a couple of weeks.

Whoa
Mr. Sakai,
Are you saying that the conditions vary in Vol. 1 #1 or are they about a VF on average? I didn't realize you had Albedo #2's for sale. I would be very curious as to what it sold for, but, if that's prying too much please don't feel obligated to respond. Oh, do you have any others that you are selling?
I know that you probably wouldn't find it appealing, but, if a section of the website had a 'what's available from Stan' section I bet you could empty out your garage and fulfill people's wish lists as well.
I agree that sometimes graded books are overrated as you can buy a comic with the same attributes for much less and actually be able to read it instead of it being sealed for all time. Lol.
Abayo,
Sean

Yeah, "THUNK" is about the right word to describe the feeling in my stomach. Or like a trombone going "Wah-Waaaaaaaa".
The seller was very gracious and he renewed my faith in eBay which can be shady (as evidenced by the numerous Usagi Re-Sellings).
BUT I AGREE!
There should be a section here that is called "What's in Mr. Sakai's Garage". I think that would be great and would sell out back stock very quickly. I am also curious about where I can find Albedo #2 other than eBay. I am not concerned about the condition so much as fulfilling a childhood fantasy to have every Usagi issue.
I am down to Albedo #2 and Sketchbook #1.
Cheers for the good humor!
