Peter Laird's blog
I'm a regular visitor to Peter Laird's blog, as are a couple of others here. I especially like it when he digs something out of the vaults. Today, he posted a photo from the 1986 San Diego Comic-con, when it was still held at the old convention center. We were a lot younger and thinner.

WOW, 86! The style, the music, the... good lord is that hawaain shirt really from 1986? I should probably change up my wardrobe a bit....
It's cool to see Stan Sakai with Peter Laird that early on in his career.
What was the feeling back then mr. Sakai, did you know how popular Usagi was going to be twenty plus years from then?

I don't remember if I first met Peter and Kevin at that con. I know we were corresponding pretty early in our careers. When Albedo first was published, we could not give copies away because it was a black and white book. The next year, #2 was already going for $100.
I was introduced to TMNT through ads in the Comic Buyer's Guide. I figured I would buy a copy when it hit the stands. It sold out immediately though, so I was content with a 2nd printing. About 15 years later, Peter gave me a copy of the first printing.

vol.4 is now being sold exclusively online at ninjaturtles.com and at Cons when Mirage has a booth. And they're all free on wowio too. I think the current TMNT run is one of the best ever.Space Wolf wrote:I have such a hard time fining TMNT comics here in NJ. None of the local stores have any old issues and they don't carry the new ones. I have to order from midtowncomics.com whenever I want one.
I really need to hit a good comic convention to find some I think.
