Here's another scavanger who is proudly selling a SDCC sketch for an outraguous price; I don't know what Sensei charged people for their sketches, but I very much doubt it was near 200 US $....

Shouldn't he be informed, what we think about that kind of service for fans??!?

I already made my money on it, so I'm fine with him selling it. I doubt he will get his asking price of $275 for it, though. I charged $30

Everything else is way over priced too... Kevin was doing a free sketch for anyone who bought something on his stand at SDCC. I wonder how managed to get so many though, considering Kevin was taking a good 10-15 minutes on each one.

I appreciate you chipping in Stan so that people understand it's not an evil to resell something. Yeah, it's different when someone comes up for a freebee (more in the past) and turns around to sell without a care about the work itself. I understand and agree with the negative sentiment on that type of stuff. People who take advantage of other's kindness should be berated for being selfish clods.

It's different when people may be selling it for reasons other than 'vulturing'. To be honest if I had never found this site my only source of Usagi material would be Ebay, comic shops, etc.

Just another perspective.

Whoa, $30 for a con sketch? How did this come about? Did he insist on paying for an non-personalized sketch? Surprised he didn't fork over a bit more for an actual drawing.

Yes, I mean Kevin Eastman here. I got this sketch drawn inside the copy of Bodycount that I bought.

As for Sensei, I can't quite remember the exact wording, but I believe the sign on the table at SDCC said $30 for a sketch or free inside anything bought.

I was taking commissions, but for $30 would do a sketch on 6x9 inch bristol or your sketchbook, but I would not take requests. These are those very quick sketches.

All my books were signed and sketched, and if you brought me an unsigned book I would sign and sketch in it for free.

If "vultures" are asking for 275 and Mr. Sakai at a con is selling for 30 - i'm thinking if somewhere on this site Mr. Sakai were to offer a couple of Online Sketches or even in a post/ thread do an auction of art for boardmembers not able to get to a con - we could see how much fans would pay for artwork and the "vultures" are left out while My. Sakai benefits.

I've mentioned something like this might be doable for sketchbooks or any overstock lying in a garage.
